What are you playing right now?

Bought High on Life a couple days ago and I'm enjoying it mainly because of the situations I get in whether to shoot people or not. Say what you want about the Rick and Morty voices and the humor of the game but I do like how the game does try to call me out on something like shooting an alien kid only for his mother to be mostly indifferent to her kid's death. It honestly does make me want to see a game make fun of "moral choices in video games" since most "moral choices" I see end up just being a means of weighing out what loot you want to get.

Played Postal 4 a couple days ago and I beaten it. Killed everyone and had the final boss go down via the pacifist option. For all there was in the game being buggy, I fail to really see how it's worse than Postal 2 or on the same level as Postal 3 in terms of stability back when it was released on the store and now, inb4 someone says its cope but I can't really see it as cope. Only actual criticism I have was errands not being as memorable and the fact it doesn't really have its own shit to date it like Postal 2 had with Gary Coleman and Al-Qaeda. At least something COVID related would worked for Postal 4 but that was just in the earliest builds as a line that probably isn't even in the game anymore. Brain Damaged is the better game but that was more from the fact the game was pretty much more fun than DOOM Eternal for me and the fact it had more enemy variety than Postal 2 and 4 had with faster combat.

 

To paraphrase what I told Reynard: "Being mediocre is still a vast improvement over Postal III. Even being outright bad is a vast improvement over Postal III."
Point is, Postal III is the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to performance and humor, so I have a hard time believing Postal 4 could be as bad.

 

I'm guessing people wanted it to be like Postal 2 and in a sense, it is but I can imagine some shit being a step back. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the people sperging about it who played Postal 2 didn't play the earlier versions of 2 that likely were shit in their own right, especially with people claiming it was a living world when it's more likely you had some NPC's in set areas doing shit like dancing, playing an arcade game, or just walking around and talking to each other, something not much different from Postal 4. And much as Postal 4 has many dicks and relies on toilet humor and stuff people could claim are cringe(feces as the secret ingredient for tacos, Kunny Island, and angry white people that are snowflakes which ironically I can imagine exist online since I can still remember last year having idiots get pissy over dreadlocks on a furry OC while most black people that see went "meh"), I can't imagine Postal 2 was exactly much wittier than Postal 4 beyond not having dildos found everywhere in some map and you did have a testicular mascot named Krotchy being a thing. Who knows, maybe it's cope on my end and I'm just some RWS fanboy whose coping even though GTA: San Andreas made better and wittier jokes than Postal 2 did but I fail to see the crap humor aspect compared to general gameplay in shooting and killing. Postal to me is just more of how fucked up the protag is and how much 2 and 4 can let me be a pacifist.

Still, it's all leagues better than Postal III mainly because Postal 4 was not painful to play and Postal III was just a shitshow with things like "Mexican Sushi Chefs" having guns and trying to kill me while I have jack shit to defend myself and I somehow can't fight back against soccer moms with violence. I will say though that regardless of what others say, all the Postal games are gonna date themselves anyway with whatever they reference in them. Postal 2 had Islamic terrorist after 9/11 and Gary Coleman being a living celebrity and the DLC gave us a tombstone saying "RIP Games Jouranlism" and Milo Yiannopolous. Despite what others may think in it tainting the game by having an alt-right figure, Milo was just as killable as any other NPC despite whatever one thinks of the bullshit the Culture Wars had, and all his cameo had was being a club owner who I could just beat to death.
Also side note, I don't even care what one says about nazis and platforms in some instance like this since Milo not only killed his career later, him being in Postal 2 and killable is alright since this could let you enact any violent fantasy on a right wing tard for whatever reason on top of the fact that aside from Vince Desi being a Republican, RWS doesn't really have much or any political talking points that seemed to shill left or right wing politics. And getting made at the tombstone saying something like vidya journalism being dead is no less dumb than some weeb getting pissy at the lack of tits in anime game Sony or Nintendo decided to censor for whatever reason. Cue someone coming into say how this is actually bad despite the fact there's better shit to sperg about than an edgy video game.

Also Postal III is what boxed syphilis actually is. The Russians making it fucked up thanks the CEO of Akella's choices during the 2008 recession. If he had kept on to the A-team, the game would likely of fared better and not be shat on by the rest of the Postal community and RWS and possibly help Akella stay afloat a bit longer.

Edit: Postal 4 manages to have something good that I'm sure Postal III did not have: in-game radio, and finally they managed to make a jab at furries just like how III did try to make a jab at gamers albeit as something that had to be fought against while defending Uwe Boll.

The alternative to shooting a wolf fursuiter in Brain Damaged that Reynard told me was pretty much a combo of 2005 furries and gaming e-girls. All that's missing is a joke on weebs.

 

Still plugging along with Cupid Parasite. I'm at the end of the fourth character route now and holy hell, it gets kinda ... spicy. I did not expect this in my 'T for Teen" otome game. I'm assuming route 5 is even spicier.

On deck is Amnesia: Later X Crowd ... or Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes, but I might hold off on that until I get home and can play it on my TV.

 

Played some Elden Ring and Unreal Tournament 2004. Was saddened that Epic Games removed it from Steam along with the other games, even the shitty sequel to the first Unreal. As someone not into multiplayer because that would end up having its share of spergs and, within PC gaming, cheaters that'll use trainers or hacks, Unreal Tournament 2004 was pretty fun. Played it with a custom player model that probably had its share of furry neckbeards or weeb neckbeards back in the days where Chris wasn't an infamous e-celeb but instead just a nobody who got in trouble at PVCC.

 

Completed my dex in Scarlet, been just doing raids and I think I'll do some shiny hunting until the dlc drops

 

SimEarth (DOS). Played modern world scenario (starts in 1990), where I somehow messed up with energy allocations for civilization. Industrial civilization collapsed. Then all civilization collapsed, with the last holdout being a Bronze Age city southwest of the Sahara area that got plague. Over 6 million years later, some clever monke in the the Middle East (then forest and grassland) started a new Neolithic civilization.

 

Been playing Daggerfall Unity and the only gripes I have is how the devs fixed useful bugs and made combat more click rather than mouse dragging. Wouldn't mind someone making a mod that brings both back. I want to be an argonian that's critically weak to poison and disease while looting certain inns via save scumming and getting daedric equipment at level 1 while holding down right mouse and sweeping my mouse against everything else that tries to kill me. Also fuck the early artifact quest that was made if simply because it's all time limited if you aren't trying to level up enough to get shit to kill something that requires higher end equipment to actually damage it.

 

Doom Eternal was in the January humble bundle so probably that

 

Playing more Daggerfall Unity, found out I could enable the classic combat system so I take that back. Still wishing the game could let me pick my character's backstory for my character but other than that, it's a fun but painful experience to try and get through the world.

 

Got around to playing Master of Orion 2 again, instead of just talking of it like I've done on and off here.

The normally peaceful and geeky Psilons went on the warpath and bombed or invaded planets of all the other factions except the one I was playing as (custom Trilarians or fishy people).

 

Beaten Daggerfall a couple days ago with an ending focused on giving an important mcguffin to the only character that wasn't interested in any power beyond just wanting to die. Playing the game makes me realize how much Bethesda fucked up in doing character creation and simplifying the games.

 

Playing Pokemon Violet. It's graphically janky, but not to the point where it was that everyone was memeing about. There's still jank, but it's a tolerable jank. It's only crashed once .... yay?

My big gripe is that it seems easier than Sword/Shield and they were super easy. I'm able to (with a little bit of difficulty, but not much,) beat lvl 50+ (which should be kicking my shit in,) with lvl 40 pokemon. I should not be able to do that.

I don't know what the deal is with eggs, I don't know how to get them aside from picnics, which completely negates the ability for breeding and that sucks.

Also not sure how I feel about the open world aspect. I think I prefer the linear storyline, because at least I'm not wandering into places where I (presumably) will get my shit kicked in ... which has yet to happen, though.

I am playing Like a Dragon: Ishin! and I tested out Discord on Playstation and it worked. I love love love Ishin. I didn't realize how much I missed Kiryu and the other characters.

Definitely thought you modded a character into a log at first glance.
