That Guy With The Glasses/Channel Awesome Thread

Most beef he probably got from the internet was just some shit when the tism known as GamerGate was around but I could just be confusing him with Folding Ideas who actually did make a video on it. But besides that, I can only guess the only other one to not get any beef at large with the internet was Mike J, some British guy that did his own videos on sequels.

 

I just found out about the Nostalgia Chick/Lindsay Ellis rape rap video. WTF.

 

I can only imagine it's something that's either tasteless if it was unironic and making unfunny rape jokes or very poorly aged because people today could look down on it even if it was made to mock rapist or something.

 

It's an unfunny attempt at comedy that Lindsay claims was a private vent piece that got uploaded without her consent, but I don't believe her because in the video she responds to fan comments and It's also too well made to not be made for public viewing.
There's also the fact that I doubt someone wanting to cope with misogyny and creepy guys would make a video making a joke out of it.

 

I can imagine one coping in their own way and the like but I can also imagine they'd make something more tasteful than a rap.

 

In hindsight I was a little too harsh, still find it really weird and unfunny though.

 

I imagine for some, it'd likely not sit well with them though as you said, some would rationalize it which does remind me how one psychology professor I had was a survivor noted there are ways for one to cope from such horrid events.

 

Wouldn't doubt that all of what you said. I just wouldn't be surprised at people finding it tasteless without any greater context and considering the rap was made by some former member of company known mostly for an "angry critic", I wouldn't be surprised if people find it tasteless but then end up being hypocritical about it since I can remember the person behind the rap having her share of detractors and haters though all I really know about Nostalgia Chick was her making some comment at another internet reviewer that led to him being mocked further and saying something about an Asian Disney movie that didn't sit well with a bunch of people.

 

Wouldn't be surprising considering whatever there was at Channel Awesome that led to the "change the channel" hashtag and all that came out in what was going on there.

 

Channel awesome membership is like some kind of career-destroying curse that only a few managed to escape unharmed.

I was recently watching some of Todd's older videos and the one where he was excited to join channel awesome is absolutely hilarious in hindsight.

 

In the beginning it was a new horizon where everyone could get rich or some shit. And then when it came to having the videos off of the site, Blip got shuttered and they had move back to Youtube all while you had things like Spoony leaving Channel Awesome and getting some kind of spat with some other critic from the site.

 

Oh yeah, the tweet about chaining Nostalgia Chick to his basement and some other person tried to start a beef with him over it or something like that. The only thing to top that in being completely tasteless of Spoony was a tweet from where he mentions how ballistic he went over some crappy snowman decorations at a Dollar Tree.

Big thanks to whoever archived his Farms thread on one of the archive sites. Take the tweets with salt, especially if they were just crappy jokes that would still make him sound unhinged.

In regards to humor, I was thinking more of 2008 edgy rage humor being posted as tweets if he wasn't being serious. Then again, I can't really tell with Spoony since I haven't kept up with him and I wouldn't be surprised if any mental illnesses and issues were to break out into him.
