I was originally thinkin he was just projecting his infatuation with Flutter, but honestly he was kinda acting like this even before the jail saga. I'm thinking this is less from a privileged perspective and more from just him being insane. Plus, we don't actually know what his relationship with Flutter is like. I kinda wonder what even prompted him to mention incels or where he even learned about them.

 

Ironic as he was pretty much the original involuntary celibate. Or as he called it: "virgin with rage".

it took me a moment, at first I was thinking about like, if CWC liked anything that could be like proto-vtuber stuff like annoying orange but was drawing blanks until it clicked... the dreaded G word.

 

It's worth mentioning that incels have existed as an online subculture and a term since the late 90s, though. They just didn't become more prominent and get mainstream recognition until the mid 2010s. They were around far before Chris would've been able to pay attention to them, and funnily enough, they started becoming more vocal and more extreme in the late 2000s upon intermixing with early 4chan culture, around the time Chris was first noticed by the internet.

 

Probably called themselves something different back then. By the early '10s they were called "loveshies", before the "incel" label caught on.

Doubt anyone else called themselves a "virgin with rage" though.

 

They've been calling themselves incels as far back as 1997. They were a lot less militant back then, however. So most people didn't really start to notice them until like 2006-2008, when 4chan culture had reached it's first height. Because of that, despite very much having the characteristics of an early incel, Chris probably wouldn't have been accepted in a 2000s incel circle. Ironically, by the end of 2007, a lot of those people were the kind of people who joined in on mocking Chris, given how many of them were glued to 4chan in the early years of it.

...You're definitely right about that second thing though LOL. Some people probably only started calling themselves that ironically since 2008 as a reference to Chris.

 

Huh. Here I thought the "incel" term was invented in the 2010s, as I never heard the term before then. So I looked it up and it really is 1990s. 1997 to be exact. I guess the term "incel" was not really widespread until the 2010s -- and then by the 2020s "incel" can easily be a buzzword for "guys I don't like" -- and maybe "loveshies" was briefly more popular by the early 2010s...

BTW I looked up "virgin with rage etymology" and the first result is the CWCki (lol).

 

Ironically it was coined by a woman, and incel was supposed to be inclusive regardless of gender so things like "femcel" didn't rise until way later, after incel became associated with the more misogynistic type of guys like Marjan or what you saw on r/incels and the forums that popped up after reddit shitcanned them for the Elliot Rodger copycat stuff.

 

I want there to be a God, I wish there was a way humans could create a super advanced AI with enough quantum computing power to bend the fabric of space-time, and for this being to become benevolent and begin restoring dead humans to life in a simulated Heaven.
