Girl Games (They can't all suck, can they?)

What are some of your favorite girl games? I am a big fan of Otome games, but in the past I really liked this Point and click adventure Anastasia game that would always spook me. It wasn't until I was older that I beat it. There are also a lot Farming sims which also very much have a strong female fanbase.

I also loved that Barbie Genie game as a kid for Gameboy where you fly around on a magic carpet collecting gems and stuff. Also, Sailor Moon Drops was the shit back when it was still out and I still have my Luna and Artemis wallpaper. Does anyone also remember that American Girl Move Maker game? That one was fun to mess around in.

So what girl games have you played?

 

You know I mean like those games that they market toward girls that are often shovelware-like in nature

 

yeah, but like, they are what corporations think girls or women like.

These are honestly sad. It’s just another example of the sexism that was (and I guess still is) entrenched in the industry. So ‘boy games’ are the default, and that’s 95% of everything? And apparently all girls want to play is something related to fashion or cooking.

I’m not someone who disdains the idea of a woman fitting gender roles if it’s her choice but these are disappointing.
