General Nintendo discussion

I imagine this'll mostly be for the Switch, but anything's game here.

Me, I'm really hoping the Switch'll be good. It's got a few good games out early on (BoTW, Bomberman, Arms - hell, even 1 2 Switch and Snipperclips have got some positive press), and I'm hoping they choose a reasonable price for their online services.

 

The Switch looks like a scam tbh. but fuck I'll end up getting it anyway because of Mario

 

I'm looking forward to Fire Emblem Echoes.

 

In regard to their mobile games:
Pokemon GO
Super Mario RUN
Fire Emblem HEROES
I wonder how the next mobile game will alter the sentence.

 

I'm hyped for the Switch, though I want to wait until more games come out for it. The line up in general this year from Nintendo looks very promising, especially with Mario Odyssey and the Fire Emblem games.

 

Anyone else here "retrogame?" I sometimes still play N64.


The Switch is probably very different.

 

Never forget about the classics. The older Nintendo consoles are home to some of the best games ever made and many of Nintendo's classics are not only really good, but incredibly influential and very important to gaming history.

 

I am hyped for the Switch, but I'm fully expecting Nintendo to fuck it up somehow. Breath of the Wild looks dope tho.

FE Echoes looks really fun, and tbh it saves me from going back to play Gaiden. As much as I love Fire Emblem (probably my favorite Nintendo series; that or Metroid), the first two games have aged absolutely painfully.

 

I'm hyped for the Switch, but I wish it didn't cost an extra $100 in Canada.

 

Don't get why the Nintendo Switch has to have paid online though. If they want to do it I better hope their services are good unlike how shitty it was.

Also, trial 1-2 Virtual Consoles for a month... nah would rather keep them for free forever.

 

I'll most likely wait to see how the Switch pans out before making a decision, but I am excited to see the potential.

Still I'm more excited about FE Echoes. About time Gaiden got some love.

 

The Nintendo Switch needs to have a good Starfox game to make up for the lackluster Starfox Zero. Not just re-release Starfox 64 for the Virtual Console either, I mean an actual, NEW Starfox game that is only flying in the Arwing without any other gimmicks. Maybe a Landmaster level too but personally, I prefer the air.

I don't own a Wii U, but from what I played at demo consoles and my friends Wii U, it just feels... lacking. I like it but eh. Alot of people REALLY hate this game though, which I can understand why, I too like to look at one screen when I'm playing a video game.

The Switch also needs another Animal Crossing like City Folk or New Leaf. The Wii U kinda got Animal Crossing, but like, its not really Animal Crossing, it's more of a party game you can buy little toys for. Speaking as a long time fan going back from when Animal Crossing first came out in 2000.

Super Mario Odyssey puts me in a weird spot right now. It looks like it MIGHT be good, but I'm kinda getting Super Mario Sunshine vibes from it, and I FUCKING HATE SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE! HOLY FUCKING SHIT.

It looks like the engine is based off of Super Mario Galaxy though, so I'm probably just getting overly worried (I'm justified though, right? This franchise is arguably the biggest Nintendo franchise, so they HAVE to make it good)

Overall, not preordering the Switch, I considered it at first with the teaser, but the livestream made me take a step back and evaluate this whole thing. I'm only really interested in Super Mario Odyssey, I've never been able to get into Zelda, I don't care about the other franchises and Splatoon 2 might make me consider playing the games for the first time, otherwise no, I'm good, thanks for the offer Nintendo, I'll stick to my DS original for mobile gaming for a bit longer.

 

I bitched about the Switch back in the Old Home, but essentially I'm not even considering about even picking up one until the holiday season at the earliest. It looks interesting sure, but not $400-$500 interesting ($300 for the console, $70 for an actual controller, $40 for a 128GB micro sd card, $60 for a game, then plus tax...) just so I can play Zelda and then have it sit there until Mario or whenever No More Heroes 3 drops.

Luckily, I was able to obtain a Wii U a couple of years ago when Alco (defunct US department store chain) went bankrupt for a song. Now I'll actually have a reason to play the damn thing before selling it via Amazon Trade-In. Wheeeee economics.

Those who are purchasing a Switch at launch, I have to ask why. The state of the console is looking really, really dire, it doesn't look like Nintendo learned from the Wii U at all

 

Fire Emblem is definitely my favorite Nintendo series! Can't wait to hear what this track sounds like in Echoes:

 

Speaking of, there's this new release of the NES with built in games that's supposedly nigh-impossible to find.

 

I'm pretty hyped for the Switch for No More Heroes alone, but some of the other games (Arms, Odyssey, BotW, new FE, new Megaten, and possible new Smash) are reasons I'm sure I'll probably get it.

@Lurkman Hopefully if they make a new Star Fox, they'll have new concepts in it because I think they've used up everything from Star Fox 2 now.
