If a cartoon realm merged with reality, that would also mean the Futurama timeline would become real.

I love this joke and I hate that it's ruined by the fact that the jetsons actually still take place in the future compared to where we are now (although I think george was born in like 2020 or something)

 

I find pretty much every joke about "media" is ruined by one of two thing.

1. It jokes about something that doesn't actually happen in that series

Seriously, as someone who really does enjoy the Star Trek: Original Series. I've yet to find any episode where Kirk "Talks. like. this."

I can point to dozens of parodies where he does, from Family Guy to Tripping The Rift but nothing from the actual show.

Hell I can't even find Non-Star Trek media where Shatner "Says. Nearly. Every word. As it's. Own. Sentence."

He doesn't do it in Fanboys, he doesn't do it in Tek War...

And what's weird is that it's not even the only joke from Star Trek, that doesn't actually reference something from Star Trek (The infamous "Beam Me Up Scott".. Which was never said in any episode of the show)

Which leads me wondering: Did Comedy Writers from the 80's even see this show?

2. The jokes refer to a continuity that is not the main continuity of that series - Pokemon parodies fall into this trap a lot by exclusively spoofing the anime and trying to pass it off as spoofing the game. Though funnily enough Power Ranger parodies are exclusively Mighty Morphin' when the show hasn't resembled it since the early 90's... So kinda the opposite problem there.

My point is, lazy parodies suck and are why people think

1. That Vincent Price played Dracula (He played a Vampire exactly once, and it was very late into his career.)
2. Dracula said "I vant to suck your blood" (Only in parodies)
3. That famous stock spooky Bach composition is from Dracula (Only in parodies)

 

And Sherlock Holmes never actually said "It's elementary, my dear Watson". Sergeant Friday never actually said "Just the facts, ma'am".

And I don't know how contentious this is, but Jekyll & Hyde was never about a man with two personalities. Jekyll was always a sick and twisted man, he just felt he was allowed to release that through Hyde. Which feels a lot more poignant than just being a dude with bipolar disorder.

 

It's also worth noting that the original book didn't reveal they were the same person until the end. Whereas most adaptations has this known from the start.

But I understand why. It would be pretty boring to build up a mystery everyone already knows the answer to.

A reason why Dracula wouldn't work in a modern day setting (No one knowing Count Dracula is a vampire is a big thing in the story when in modern day Dracula is THE definitive vampire)

 

You ever watch Shadow of the Vampire? I love the scene where Max Schreck (who is an actual vampire in the film, but everyone thinks he's just a method actor) complains about the book, about how Dracula wouldn't know how to buy bread, or cut it, or know how to serve wine, because he himself had been living as a violent hermit for hundreds of years.
