Choose your own Adventure Game: Heart Quest

Otome games are more popular than ever these days. What is not to love about playing a game about dating hot guys? They are essentially a millennial/zoomer version of your mother's harlequin romance novels. The romance genre is an extremely lucrative genre of books, but decades before otome games, TSR, the original owners of D&D in the time of First Edition created a series of Choose you Own Adventure books for women known as Heart Quest. These books feature different heroines who go on quests and on their quests meet guys and depending on your choices, you can get different endings both good and bad.

The premise of this thread is simple. I will give you a summary of each section of the Heart Quest books in my own words (to avoid copyright since I am not sure if Wizards is aware of their existence or cares enough, but they are known to be pretty anal so, yeah...) and you all have 24 hours to vote on the next choices. If it is a tie, I will be the tie breaker and we basically go through each story. If it is a bad ending, we can always backtrack. Some of the books have different "routes" where you pick different guys and when we finish a good ending of a route for one guy, we can move onto the next guy.

I have four of the six books (five and six have a low print run and are expensive as fuck) You first step is to choose which book you want to start first. Here are your choices:

• Ring of the Ruby Dragon
• Talisman of Valdegarde
• Secret Sorceress
• Isle of Illusion

So far there is a three way tie between Ring book, Talisman book, and Island book. I am kind of leaning toward casting my vote for the Island book since I also think that sounds pretty cool. Whatever is runner up will be done next.

Anyways, it looks like the overwhelming majority want to do Island of Illusion so I will start the story later today.

 

Same here, as someone who read the shit out of the Jewel Kingdom series and stuff like that. I should mention I found these books on Etsy when I was looking for Dragon Quest shit on there.

So far we have two for going alone. I will give it until 6:00 PM EST tomorrow. I'm both surprised and not surprised since otome game logic would dictate to go with one of the guys, but we shall see

Okay, so you decide to go alone, but your two husbandos decide to come with you. Thief dude notices the bridge is a bit wobbly, but you try carefully to make it across. Suddenly a dragon comes down and attacks you, you try to tell yourself that it is only an illusion, but it isn't and knocks you and your companions off the bridge and you get impaled by the rocks below.

You die. Game Over.
