I am also pretty happy that Gamefreak finally used their imposter professor oak concept that they were originally planning for Gen 2 to the point where they made a bunch of cards about him in the TCG.

Scarlet and Violet are mostly good games. People complain about the graphics but that's more an issue of having to work to deadlines. This game had ambition and tons of it.
This game also appeals to current (Gen Z) cultural trends in a way Pokemon usually doesn't, so I'm not sure how it's going to age.

Also, considering that haircut and there being four forms I'm pretty confident the parakeets are based on the Beatles.

 

So they made it to appeal to Western audiences despite being made in Japan?

Also what kind of trends?

 

I mean, from what I see, the cultural trends that are seen in Pokemon are also seen in Japan, it isn't just Western exclusive, they want it to appeal to a wide range of people from different countries after all.

 

What I meant was what "Zoomer" trends are in the game. I know pocketmons has international appeal, and that pockymon games are released worldwide simultaneously now.

(not like back in the day where the games were Japanese first before getting localized for overseas)

Yeah basically, also characters consistently describing things as ‘cringe’, using the word ‘slay’ as a positive identifier and a few other examples like that.
None of this is inherently bad, it’s just a different direction for the franchise

 

That slang and that "army of simps" thing may not sound too enjoyable to me though...

Then again and kind of like @Cyan said, I'm still used to the way it was in the '00s.

 

I mean, in Diamond and Pearl they used the word "noob" and "owned" regularly too so it isn't new.

Honestly, I don't understand why people get pants-shittingly angry about Pokemon games. I've played at least one version of each mainline game and I've liked all of them.

I also don't see how people can have favorites of a game that whose premise has been the same for like 25 years - You're a kid, you pick one of 3 companions, you go out and catch other Pokemon for research, you battle in gyms, you fight the Elite Four. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It's just silly to me. I just like the games.
