Bob’s parents were married in 1963. Dad was 29, mom was 16. Married in father’s parents’ house where his mom had a job cleaning for them. Bob was born November of 1964.


His paternal grandfather passed away November of 1964 and his business (Allied Van Lines moving franchise) was handed down to his mom, dad, 2 brothers and sister. His dad’s older brother took over and his dad ended up working for him.


His parents attended Stop 9 church of Christ in Beyesville, Ohio. No dates given. Pastor was his mother’s cousin, Flavel Miller. Had a son named Mark who was born premature. Mom would talk about him, dad wouldn’t.


Bob wanted to be a police officer as a child. He also had a highway patrol uniform and a toy machine gun that he believes shot out a car tire because he “shot” at it and they came home with a flat. He also wanted to be a doctor because his mom had a medical book, until he had a dream that scared him about a head becoming a skull and coming to life. He also talks about wanting to be a bus driver when he grows up (because he liked riding the bus)


Bob had to have a tooth taken out as a child but it came out and shot across the room before the dentist touched it. The dentist still charged them for opening the office after hours.


Father was injured on the job working for the AJ McKim Transfer and Storage in Cambridge, Ohio. He spent a few weeks in Bethesda hospital after a freezer fell on his back and was unable to work again. He ended up on SSD and Worker’s compensation.


Bob has his tonsils removed when he was 5 in the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.


Bob’s house growing up was next to both his paternal and maternal grandmothers.


Bob was picked on by neighborhood bullies. When he was in first grade, some bullies stopped him in an alley and were going to stab and kill him with a knife until an older lady came out and scared them off by saying she had called the police. The police took him home.


One time when his cousin Theresa was watching him, he found her upstairs on the floor next to his parent’s bed and couldn’t wake her up.


Bob got punished as a child for cutting his friend, Buddy’s, hair. His aunt whipped him with a switch and then put him in the corner. The only time he got into trouble for helping someone. “No good deed goes unpunished.”


Bob had lots of pain in his knees and elbows when he was growing up. The doctor said he was accident prone and had a lot of sprains. He also got sharp, stabbing pains in his lower right side. Doctor Agricola said he had appendicitis and he went to the Coshocton hospital for surgery. While he was being operated on, he woke up and asked how things were going. The anesthesiologist gave him more gas and he saw a rainbow going round and round in circles and a ringing sound. He would see the rainbow and hear the ringing for years afterwards.


Bob had problems in school and a learning disability. He was in a learning disability class so he had to go to school in Cambridge, Ohio as they were the only ones who had the class. He had speech problems as well, saying his R’s as W’s. He saw a speech therapist as a child.


He was approached by a church bus from the Trinity Baptist church to attend their Vacation Bible School. His parents were okay with it so he went and stayed at the church. He was also the children song leader. He graduated to the adult church and was unhappy and left.


Parents sold their house on South Sixth Street in Cambridge, Ohio. They lived in a few places in Cambridge, one across from a glass blower shop.


When Bob was 8 and in 2nd grade, they moved to Kimbolton, Ohio. They lived in a mobile home next to a big pond or a small lake (Bishard’s Lake).


When Bob was in 4th grade, they moved to Byesville, Ohio. He was put in a regular 3rd grade class until they got his records at which point he was moved into a 4th grade learning disabilities class. Because he was in the third grade, he was bullied by some of the kids; Lee Parry in particular. When he told his teacher about it, she said he just needed to be toughened up and made him go to the gym before school to punch padded walls and skip rope. Another teacher took him by the ears and pushed him into a wall. His parents had a meeting with the principal regarding that and the teacher tried to demonstrate on Bob’s mom. He was removed from the school and they moved.


Bob and his parents moved to Florida in 1974. The realty agency made his parents pay $50 before they could even view a place to rent and it turned out that the place was an old mobile home in a rundown park. Bob’s parents were upset and went to the fire station to call the police. The police couldn’t help, but the fire fighters gave Bob some toys and helped raise money for his parents to get home to Ohio.


On their way home to Ohio, a bird hit their windshield and people stopped to help them and called an ambulance and the state patrol. His parents went to a hospital to have glass removed from their eyes and skin. They got a motel room after and they told the owners what had happened and they gave them a night for free and got a hold of a garage to work on their vehicle for them. People in the motel took up a collection to help them pay for their vehicle and get back to Ohio.


Upon returning to Ohio, they rented a 3 room house in Newcomerstown on Oxford Avenue. While Bob lived here, he had a 5 year old female friend named Kathy who he would play with. She also had a little brother and sometimes Bob would watch them while their parents were out. Bob was 10 at the time. She had an attachment to Bob and would sometimes cry when he had to go home.


While they were playing house one day, he was playing the daddy and she was the mommy and she asked him to kiss her like she’d seen her dad do. He was worried about what people would think, so they went outside to the trees where no one could see them and he kissed her. He also saw up her shorts on a different occasion and she said it was her “butterfly”. He then asked her if she wanted to see his private but she said she had already seen her brothers. He then asked her if she had seen a boy pee and when she said no, he peed while she watched. He was just being a boy and wondering what girls had and they did some show and tell.


Another time, he had to use the bathroom at her house while she was taking a bath. Her mom let him because Kathy knew what boys had so he used the bathroom while Kathy watched and they talked. On another occasion, he watched her and her brother in the bath when her mom had to step out.


Bob learned how to masturbate by seeing his cousin do it in the bathroom.

Bob started 5th grade in Newcomerstown and attended the Scripture Holiness Church with pastor William Gamble. He was a good singer and sang a solo in the Christmas play at West School. They later moved and rented a farm from a member of the church. His family lived there through his 6th grade of school. He had night time heart burn while sleeping on his left side and dreamt often of being a bird.


One of his neighbours offered Bob a free horse. His parents talked to the people and they had the horse brought to their place. His name was Lightning and he was not saddle broken. The horse had a bad eye and a fear of snakes. While the previous owners still had him, teenagers were feeding him beer and chewing tobacco. The horse had to be put down while Bob was at school. Bob’s family also owned 4 cats named after the kids from the Waltons.


While living there, Bob had 2 friends that were brothers that lived over the hill from him. One winter it snowed so bad that the national guard had to come to dig out the roads. The brothers had a club house in their barn and they had Playboy magazines that they would all look at and masturbate together. Nothing other than masturbation ever happened.


They lived there from 1975-1977 at which point they moved to Florida to be close to his dad’s sister Marge. They had to get rid of all of their animals. One of the chickens had just had chicks and they got rid of all they could and his cousin Brian took the rest to set free on a back country road.


While preparing to move, Bob got hit in the back with a doorknob and everything turned white and he couldn’t see. He was weak and felt better after laying down. He’s had other spells with getting weak, shaky, light headed, sweaty and feeling like he was going to pass out but doctors couldn’t diagnose him.


In the summer of 1977, they moved to Port Richey and New Port Richey in Florida. Aunt Margie, uncle George and their family moved there as well to buy a house made for disabled soldiers. They rented a trailer until a house near aunt Margie came available at which point they moved to Holiday, Florida. They moved yet again to a place just up the road from the sister.


While at school in Florida, Bob was put in regular classes due to a lack of learning disability classes. There was a bomb threat one day. No idea what ever came of that or why. His locker was also broken into and the lock taken off. His binder and notes as well as free lunch tickets were taken. He put the lock back on and went to the principal to report it. They thought he was making it up and that he sold the free lunch tickets. “Why do people always want to think the worst about you when you are the victim? I have noticed that people have been changing from a spirit of trusting to a spirit of fear and distrust.” He hurt his knee at school one day after falling and had to be taken to the ER. The doctor said he had water on the knee and he had to walk on crutches. One time, the bus driver drove him all the way to his house instead of dropping him at the end of the road at the bus stop.


Once winter hit, the rent for their place went up because of people coming down to live for the winter. Because of this and the issues at school, they decided to move back to Ohio in January of 1978. His cousins Brian and John helped and they drove back without stopping. They stayed with his paternal grandmother until they rented an older mobile home in Newcomerstown on Canal Street.


The great blizzard of 1978 happened shortly after they moved back. Mobile homes were evacuated due to high winds and the main electrical box shorted out. They had to stay in a church until a neighbor agreed to put them up. A man with a CB showed up possibly from REACT or an amateur radio club which sparked Bob’s interest in radios.


Bob was called Preacher Boy in school because he would took a bible to school and read it in study hall and on breaks. A student was picking on him once for carrying his bible and trying to get Bob to hit him. He punched Bob in the nose while the principal watched and the boy was sent to the office.


His family moved again to an unspecified place that had a coal furnace and then moved again to a place a pastor had next to his house because it cost too much to continue living there.


There was a girl named Marybeth that he met in school but also lived across the road from him. He spent the summer hanging out with her and her two sisters. One time while she was over and his parents weren’t home she tried to initiate sexual relations with him. She lay on his lap and started to moan. He was interested in girls and having a girlfriend but was scared of having sex. She also wanted him to watch her get into her swim suit on a different occasion and got upset when he wouldn’t.


Bob’s girlfriend was in special education classes and had mental issues. Bob told her that he was going to become a doctor to help people like her which made her angry.


In November of 1978, Bob was set up by his mom to work a job delivering newspapers for the Times Reporter from New Philadelphia, Ohio. It was route 700A on North Cross Street, Greenwood Drive, Parkhill Drive, Crestview and Manor area.


His parents bought a mobile home and rented a lot across from the police/fire station. He still had the newspaper route and earned carrier of the month in October 1979. He was also selling grit on the weekends at the local grocery store and Blair products.


Bob was studying to become a preacher as he felt God wanted him to become one. He asked Reverend Gamble a lot of questions and Gamble showed him a publication put out by a bible college in Cincinnati called God’s Revivalist Magazine. He was also a member of Jim Bakker’s PTL club which gave him 2 bibles and the Rex Humbard Prayer Key Family.


His parents also purchased 3 more mobile homes while living there. The first one had thicker walls than normal and they had new windows put in which caused them to go bankrupt on the windows, a car, and some credit cards. They took $500 that Bob had in savings to pay off a car so that they could buy a K-Car which they lost in the bankruptcy.


The original car that they paid off using Bob’s money had a leak in the air vent and his dad couldn’t find it so they went to bed and slept on it. While sleeping, Bob dreamed that he solved the problem by pouring water in the air vent and it coming out on the floorboard. The next day, Bob’s dad checked and there was a hole that went through the firewall.


Bob’s dad sold a shot gun to Bob’s grandfather and used the money to buy Bob a car so that Bob could drive them places since they had no car due to losing theirs in the bankruptcy. It was a Ford Pinto wagon.


Bob bought a class ring using his money from his newspaper job and making payments on it every 2 weeks while the jewelry store held it for him. He also got a checking account and a credit card with a $300 limit.


A local drug store let Bob and his family get medications and other things on credit.


Bob traded the Ford Pinto wagon for $250 on a 1977 Chevy Malibu.


Bob graduated in 1983.


Bob joined REACT in 1984 after his parents bought him a Radio Shack handheld 4 channel police scanner and he bought himself a used CB base station. He enjoyed helping people and going to events to help out by parking cars, helping with parades and helping with radio communication and security. In 1984, he took CPR and first aid from the Red Cross and he also did first aid at a Steam Show where he was originally helping to park cars.

Bob had a pen pal from Ennis, Texas named Karen. She was half indian. She was very pretty and Bob fell in love with her and wanted to move there to be with her, but she talked him out of it. He put an ad in the newspaper looking for a woman and got a letter from Barb Kedigh and he met her. She lived in town and he knew her uncle as her uncle worked for the street department and was a CB friend of Bob’s. Him and Barb hit it off and after a month they started dating. He asked her to marry him after 3 months. Nobody approved of the marriage because they didn’t like her parents and even his newspaper customers didn’t like it. They were married April of 1986.

Bob and Barbara got married April of 1986 4 months after they met. Bob was 21 and Barbara was 18. He had to get out on his own because his mother was driving him nuts.


He was living on $150 a month from his paper route along with a few other odd jobs that he did from time to time. He was unable to get a full time job because people thought he was retarded due to being in a learning disability class most of his life and they thought his parents were retarded because his dad was hard of hearing and had a speech impediment. His mom was lazy and had problems managing money. She would lay on the couch all day and yell for him or his dad to get her everything she needed, even if it was right next to her on the table.


His mom would listen in on his phone calls when he was talking to his pen pal from Texas, Karen. She also read the letters she sent him. He had no privacy and ended up giving them most of his money for bills. He couldn’t find a job because people judged him because of his parents.


Him and Barbara attended the same store front church on Beaver Street in Newcomerstown, Ohio. It was pastored by the late Reverend Keeton.


Bob was seeing another woman at the same time he was seeing his wife. She had told him the first time she saw him that she wasn’t into him because he was a geek and told him that he could see other girls. She had a child and all she wanted was a father for her child. She said she had gotten pregnant by a guy just passing through looking for work. He told Barb who he started seeing more.


They went on dates and would sit on the porch swing and just talk. His parents took her to meet his grandfather and she loved the trip and would moo and baa at the cows and sheep.


One time when he went to see her, she had a big box packed and was crying saying that her mom only thought that she wanted to marry him because they had had sexual relations and he had gotten her pregnant. They did not even see each other naked until marriage. He was a virgin and she was his first.


After they were married, they got an apartment near her parents, brother and sister. They were nicknamed the “cardboard apartments” because one night he could hear his neighbours having sexual relations through the wall as if they were right in his bedroom.


They were on General Assistance, food stamps and Medicaid along with his paper route. Things were good, but his wife wanted him to get a good job. When his wife got pregnant, they were taken off of GA and put onto AFDC.


They were both members of REACT and Bob was a member of the National CB Radio Patrol. REACT disbanded in 1987 and Bob, his wife, his cousin Donald and another friend went in together to get a charter through the National CB Radio Patrol. They started the Newcomerstown CB Radio Patrol which became the Tuscarawas County Emergency Radio Patrol and after a time of rest between 2000 and 2006 it became the CAER Security Radio Patrol.


They moved from their apartment because management was not fixing things right, he got a new job and his wife became pregnant. They stayed with her parents until they could find a place after their first son was born.


Their first son had jaundice and had to stay in the hospital. Doctor John Burnham said that he could come home after a while even though he still had jaundice as long as he was laid in direct sunlight with his diaper off until he was over it. A young girl that they knew came to see their son and then child services came to check on him because they had gotten a complaint that he was being laid in front of a window naked. Their doctor had to call child protective services to explain the situation.


One night while they were staying at her parent’s, Bob’s sister in law (who was staying there as well) came in to his bedroom after he had gone to bed and took his covers off to see if he slept naked, but he had underpants on. She was unhappy that Bob and Barbara were sleeping in her parent’s bed.


Bob was asked to look for some papers one day and while looking in their file cabinet he found some magazines on wife swapping. He never mentioned it to anyone; he only talked it over with his wife.


They moved in with his wife’s grandma because she was getting sick and passing out.


He worked as a security officer in Coshocton, Ohio from November 1988 until April 1989.


He became an ordained minister in 1989 with the Universal Life Church by his cousin who was a minister. This was way before the internet came into existence.


Many people doubt that the Universal Life Church (ULC) is a real church, but it is real because it it’s people and ministers like Bob that make it real, not the government or the internet. A church is made up of people.


They had friends that they would visit from time to time and they would watch porn movies on their living room TV. It made Bob uncomfortable and he told her (his wife presumably although never directly stated) that these movies shouldn’t be shown out in the open. She told him that her dad, uncle, and a friend would drink and watch those movies when she was younger and when she was 16, they were all watching a movie and she was raped by the man she thought was her uncle.


His wife was a very sexually aggressive young woman before she got pregnant. She got more sexually aggressive after she got pregnant. One evening, after watching a movie on HBO with a female friend (whose husband was in jail and daughters were with their real dads), his wife started playing with his private place. She kept asking what he wanted and he said he was getting what he wanted. She pulled his privates out of his pants and started having sex with him. He thinks she wanted him to do something with her and their friend that he was not comfortable doing. She kept going until they had sex on the couch. Their friend had gone into the kitchen to get coffee before she started and Bob was worried they’d be caught. The friend then came back in and started watching them and she was masturbating herself. This was the only time this happened between his wife and someone else.


There were rumors that his wife was cheating with an ex-boyfriend that came to see her. Bob dismissed the rumors because even though the ex wanted Barbara to leave Bob for him, Barbara had told him that she loved Bob and was having his child.


There were other rumors throughout their marriage about them having a threesome and her cheating on him when she went out drinking with friends and family. Whenever he brought them up, she just asked him who he was going to believe, them or her. She never said yes or no. She also used to say “Mommies babies, daddy’s maybes” about their children. It made Bob wonder if the rumors were true.

Bob’s maternal grandfather lived in Reinersville, Ohio in Morgan County. They would go visit him every Sunday. He was a good cook and would serve fried chicken, mashed potatoes and noodles. He lived with his mother until she passed away one summer when Bob and his parents went to the Story Book Forest and Fort Ligonier (spelling?), PA.


The state police came to their hotel and the officer told us that Bob’s great grandmother had passed away. They then decided to go to the Story Book Forest, Fort Ligonier, and a zoo and then go home right after.


After his mom passed away, Bob’s grandfather lived alone and they would visit every Sunday. Bob would dress up as a police officer, a cowboy, or he would just be himself. He loved his grandfather.


His grandfather was easily used and after he was married in the late 80’s, his (Bob’s grandfather’s) niece moved in with a plethora of animals (dogs, cats, etc). Bob was unable to visit him at home because the niece was afraid Bob would get bit. Bob suspects there was more to it than that.


As time went on, in the late 1990s and while Bob was going through his divorce, he was allowed to visit.


One day his parents got a call that his grandfather was missing. Bob took off work and him and his wife went to help find him. He was later found in an outhouse. Bob and his wife talked to the sheriff who said he was found at a neighbour’s house.


While Bob was going through his divorce and living with his parents, they got a call that he was in the hospital because his niece hit him and went to jail. They went down and took him to doctor appointments and the hospital. He had a spot on his lung that they later said was (I’m not joking, there is no end to this sentence)


Bob stayed with his grandfather every other weekend while going through his divorce after his niece left to help take him to the store and pay bills.


One time when Bob and his parents went to take his grandfather to an appointment, he accused Bob of stealing his hammers and rugs. Bob picked up the phone to call 911 with the intention to having the sheriff come and talk to him and his grandfather went off on him and hit him in the head and face. The sheriff showed up and his grandfather told the sheriff that aliens had landed and came into the house and stole his hammers and rugs. The sheriff said his grandfather needed help and that they needed good luck with him.


Bob spoke to an attorney to try and get guardianship but when the court investigator went to talk with him, she took the adult protective services worker that saw his grandfather after his niece attacked him. .This is not what they were supposed to do. The law states that the court investigator was supposed to go by their selves to talk to someone. They told the judge that although he was diagnosed with dementia with delusions, there was nothing wrong with him.


Bob stayed away but his parents would still visit. He would tell them that he would see Bob’s van down there and that Bob was going into his basement and taking things. Once when they were down there for a family reunion, his grandfather said they were there and made a mess all over his toilet that he had to clean up.


Bob found some money on a chair once and showed his mom. She showed her dad and he said it was from the government people that were there to see him.


His grandfather’s mind and health were failing him and no one would do anything until a doctor put him in a nursing home for a month after he had a fall. The doctor ordered a home health aide to check on him. His grandfather would accuse them of stealing from him and they stopped going to see him.


One time Bob and his mom tried calling him to see how he was doing. They called the sheriff who said he was doing fine. They called his neighbor after who said he was in a nursing home again.


They (Bob and his mom I believe) went to McConnelsville, Ohio to go see him in the nursing home and Bob waited in the car until he said it was okay for him to go in. Bob’s mom asked his grandfather about his bills and he said that he gave all his money to a farmer friend to pay his bills. They stopped to see what bills they had paid and were going to pay and the friend gave Bob’s mom a jar full of change that his grandfather had.


A few months later, Bob’s mom started receiving bills that they were told were paid by other people. It turns out they (the farmer friend?) had said they were paying the bills and just took his grandfather’s social security money. Both social security and the sheriff said there was nothing they could do about it.


His grandfather passed away in the nursing home while Bob and his ex-wife were with him and Bob’s mom had stepped out to get something to eat and some fresh air. Bob believes that he was waiting for her to leave to pass away.

Bob did his paper route until he got a new job as a security officer for Ohio Security Systems in November of 1988. One evening while he was at work, someone called to ask where his supervisor was and he said she was in a meeting with the supervisor of the plant. Bob later heard through the grapevine that she was having an affair and Bob had said something he wasn’t supposed to. He just told the person what he was told to say if someone called asking for her.

Bob came down with the flu and was off work for six (6) days. He went to the doctor who gave him a script giving him time off of work due to being sick. When he returned to work, he found out another guard he was friends with had been fired. He was a former Coshocton police officer. He was fired for not picking up trash in the parking lot that was dropped by plant employees.


Two guards were hired and Bob asked why two instead of one. His supervisor said that she was trying to see which one would work out, but there was only one schedule when there were two on the desk before (the current week and next week). When Bob asked why just one schedule, she said was working on next week’s.


Bob went to work on Easter Sunday morning like any other Sunday. He got to the guard house and the guards left so fast they wouldn’t even talk to him. He went in and the two new guards were there. When he asked what was going on, they said they got a call to show up to work. He looked up the new schedule and his name wasn’t on it. He called his supervisor and her husband said she was visiting family. He then called the direct supervisor who told him he had to leave the property or he would call the sheriff and have Bob arrested. Bob was dumbfounded as he was unaware when or why he had been fired. The direct supervisor came and told him to leave his uniform and the property or face trespassing charges.


He left and called the main office on Monday morning. He was told he could have a meeting to talk about what happened, but he never got a call back. Bob went to file for unemployment, but it took 3 months because they had to hear from the company to find out what had happened. They got a letter saying Bob had missed 16 days of work but Bob had proof he had only missed the 6 via his pay stub showing he had been paid for the other days. He later found out his supervisor didn’t like him and lied to get him fired.


One time when he was at the unemployment office looking for a job he saw his ex-supervisor and a few other guards from the place he used to work. “I know my God looks after me and defends and punish those who hurt me.”


Bob continued studying his bible all throughout what happened and he took a home course through the universal life church as well as praying and going to church. “I have found out that mean people affect my life in ways that ends up in their own down fall in the end.”


In 1989, Bob received his ordination in the Universal Life Church through his cousin that was a minister.

Bob was looking for other jobs and asking at nursing homes if they needed an orderly.


Bob received a call from Job and Family Services asking if he’d be interested in taking training to become a homemaker/home health aide. He said yes and started his training in August at the Tuscarawas County Health Department which lasted until December.


Bob started his job in January 1990 through November 1990. It was a nine month training job that paid well with mileage reimbursement. Afterwards, people were expected to get another job at a nursing home or another home health agency, but it was not easy.


In January of 1990, the federal government passed a law making state certification training a must for all nurse’s aides working in nursing homes and hospitals. Some health agencies thought that meant that they had to have their home health aides certified as well, but Bob looked up the law and all a home health aide requires is agency certification, not state as required by nursing homes.


In 1992, Bob attended the former Mansfield Business College in Canton, Ohio and took the private security and investigations certificate law enforcement training. He earned his certification in 1992, 6 months after he started.


Bob worked off and on for Buckeye Protective Services and Cloverleaf Security as a security officer. He had a big yellow light bar on top of his vehicle when he worked for Buckeye and one day he was called into the supervisor’s office. He was told they didn’t want him to wear their uniform when he was driving his vehicle with the light bar. He told them about his radio patrol organization, but they didn’t care.


Bob was unemployed off and on working temp jobs until he found a job at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. His job load was low and he sometimes didn’t have a client to work with because of Medicaid and Medicare cutbacks.


Bob got another job at the Coshocton Health Care Center, a nursing home, with their first home health agency as their first home health aide. He worked off and on depending on whether or not there were clients. When there were no clients, Bob was also receiving welfare which didn’t pay him enough money for gas to get to and from his client.


Bob’s wife was working for HARCATUS Headstart on the board that helped make policies and they sent her and others to Columbus, Ohio and Washington, DC to lobby for more money for the Headstart program. She would tell Bob that he needed to get a job that paid into PERS (Public Employee Retirement System).

Bob got another job in 1995 in a group home for the developmentally disabled which paid well and had insurance. He worked in a group home for women in Dover and he had to work 10 hours a day with four days on and three off. He also had to stay at the group home all night and get up in the morning to start breakfast and to get the residents that worked up and ready to catch the bus.


The assistant supervisor of the house would come in playing her rock music and act like she was on speed. She got on Bob’s case a lot for stuff he didn’t do right, such as recording medications. He was still learning the books and working as well.


Bob had to give 2 of the women a bath. One of the women was older and in bed and didn’t work. The other one was Amish and Bob had to stay with her in the bathroom and help her shower, shave and brush her teeth. When she didn’t have the money to buy the razor she liked, they bought her ones she didn’t like that pulled her thick hair.


One time she complained of a tooth ache and she didn’t want to eat because it hurt. The house assistant supervisor told Bob that she would do this because she just didn’t want to eat something. Bob watched her eat and noticed that she was okay chewing food on one side, but not when she ate on the side with the sore tooth. He tried to tell his supervisor who said she was just faking it.


Bob went over her head to the main office that owns the group homes to the woman who hired him and told her what happened and that he thought the Amish woman had a bad tooth. She told Bob that they’d have her taken to a dentist. While he was off on his 3 days, they took her and she did have a bad tooth.


After that, his assistant supervisor was even harder on him. She would complain that the laminate floor was not cleaned good enough and wanted him to scrub it on his hands and knees.


Bob’s gas tank was also leaking at the seam and they complained about Bob parking his vehicle on the property so he parked his vehicle down the street and walked to the group home until he could get it fixed. One day a Dover police officer asked him why he was parking on the street and he explained why. The officer told him he couldn’t park on the street with a leaky gas tank and to get it fixed. Bob replaced it with a new one but that one leaked too.


Bob would call home at night crying and telling his wife what was happening when he was staying at the house and that he couldn’t take it anymore. She would respond that she didn’t know what his problem was as he was making good money. He tried to tell her no amount of money was worth what he was going through with his assistant supervisor. He was only getting paid for 10 hours a day even though he stayed all day and night, but it was in his job description.


Bob saw an ad in the paper about the New Philadelphia Schools looking for bus drivers and a meeting that could be attended for more information. Bob attended the meeting as it fell on his days off. He was told that he had to take the Ohio Pre-Service School Bus Driving Training Program. It was a course on the laws of the road and training for driving a bus.


Bob informed the supervisor of the group home that he was going to take training to be a substitute bus driver and was told that he couldn’t have another job and still work for them. Bob tried to explain that it would just be on his days off, but the supervisor was adamant.

Bob quit his job and trained to be a bus driver. He did the training program and took his test at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. He passed and received a temporary permit. He was taught by a woman bus driver from New Philadelphia Schools.


His wife kept saying he’d never be able to drive a bus or get his license, but he fooled her. He needed to get help to pay the $50 fee needed to take the road test at the US America/Manufacturing Inc near Gnadenhutten, Ohio. After he passed, he started driving for the New Philadelphia, Ohio schools as a substitute driver. He immediately got a route because a driver was injured and couldn’t drive.


He later got hired by the Claymont schools in the Uhrichsville and Dennison, Ohio areas and then later with the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.


He worked as a substitute bus driver from 1995 until he got into trouble (the mayor incident, I believe) in 2000.


In 2001, he was going through a divorce and went to the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation to see if they’d help get him a job. He was sent to Goodwill Industries to work from June of 2001 until November of 2001. He made $5.15 an hour. He worked at the Dover facility until they ran out of work at which point he went to the Uhrichsville Goodwill store.


When Bob worked at the Uhrichsville Goodwill, they would throw donations into the dumpster including boxes of shoes or clothes. The supervisor said they couldn’t sell everything and had no room to store everything.


Bob has heard “Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day?” He had received a phone call that morning before he was supposed to go to work from the Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services to get his new food stamp card. When he got there, there were some men listening to the radio and talking about America being under attack.


Bob went in and signed in with the receptionist and the woman came and got him to take him to her office. She was also listening to the radio and was worried because her son was in the navy. He got his card and went to work. When he got there, they had a small black and white TV on showing the news and the planes hitting the World Trade Towers and Pentagon.


It was such a numb day.


After Bob got back to his parent’s and ate supper, he went to his friend’s to visit and take her to work. Her live in boyfriend was there and they were watching a small black and white TV that Bob had and the boyfriend was talking about wanting to go there and kick their behinds. Not in those words.


Bob wanted to spend the day with his ex-wife and kids but his ex-wife said no.

Later on in 2010 after Bob graduated college, he landed a job with Creative Rehabilitation as a job coach. He worked with teenagers at the Coshocton hospital in the laundry. They were a 19 year old boy and 3 girls. One girl had prior experience doing the work from the year before. Bob shadowed the boy a lot of the time because he needed help with folding. He trusted the girl with prior experience to oversee the other 2 girls.


After they finished in the laundry, they moved to the cafeteria. Bob wasn’t going to go in to where they were preparing food, but he did go into the wash room from time to time to check on them. He had a problem with his face wanting to scale and peel so he sat in the dining room working on paperwork.


There was another job coach/job counselor in the dining room that gave him some pointers. She worked out of the Hopewell workshop in Coshocton, Ohio. She was also job coaching teenagers. She told Bob he didn’t have to be in the cafeteria with them. They worked in the hospital for 2 weeks and then moved to BigLots department store in the Downtowner Plaza for another 2 weeks.


Bob’s supervisor would check in on him and the kids from time to time and she would wear short summer dresses and skirts that would show her thigh. Bob thought that in this business she should dress modest. She kept talking bad about people that lived in Coshocton. For example, “See how these people are down here?”


One time she saw that the boy did not have his shoes tied and when Bob explained that he had Velcro shoes because he couldn’t tie them, she said “See how these people are down here?”


Another time the boy said he had to use the toilet and took a really long time. When Bob checked on him, he had the toilet clogged full of toilet paper.


One of the girls was absent a lot and when Bob called to find out what was going on, she said that her parents were on vacation and she had to stay home to help with her family. Bob’s supervisor didn’t like that and called the girl as well. The girl came in to talk to Bob and another girl about what the supervisor did. She was not happy.


Bob’s friends would come to the store to shop from his hometown of Newcomerstown and when they would ask what he was doing there, he would tell them he was working as a job coach.


One time his wife/fiancée had to go to St. Clairsville, Ohio to Belmont Technical College to get her transcript because they wouldn’t release it without her showing her ID. It was 60 miles from Carrollton to Coshocton and would take too long to get down to St. Clairsville if he had to drive home to get Rene before going to St. Clairsville. The records office only stayed open until 4:30 so the plan was for her to go down with Bob and either stay in the van or go to other stores in the plaza.


On the last day of work for the summer, Rene came into the store to help Bob carry some things into the break room and then left after coming back with something for him to drink. Bob got a call from his supervisor saying it wasn’t right that Rene was there and it was a breach of confidentiality.


Bob wondered why that was a breach of confidentiality when his friends were in and out of both the hospital and BigLots and that wasn’t a breach. Bob thought breach of confidentiality meant telling someone everything he knew about the kids working under him. Bob thinks that like with his first job, his supervisor just wanted an excuse to get rid of him because she just didn’t like him very much.

Bob’s last job was in the summer of 2011 when he had to work through the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation for a work adjustment. They paid him to work for 3 months with a job coach to see how he works.


He (the job coach?) had Bob working at the St. John Villa in Carollton in the wood shop. Bob would dress nice with a polo shirt. He had a few and was wearing them so he’d look nice and stay cool. He couldn’t hang them up, so he would fold them to put them away. His shirts had some wrinkles and the job coach would complain. He was an ordained minister to the deaf and hearing impaired. He told Bob he should iron his shirts before he wore them. Bob tried to explain that his house didn’t have many closets and he didn’t own an iron or an ironing board, but the coach would just keep complaining.


The job coach also complained about Bob’s radio pouch on his belt. Bob tried to explain that he kept it on so he could put his handheld police scanner or ham radio in it in case of an emergency. “You don’t see a police officer putting his duty belt on only when he gets a call. He has it on all the time when he is on the job and read [sic] to go when he is called up.” You never know when an emergency will happen and Bob keeps it on his belt so he doesn’t have to take his belt all the way off and through the loops of his pants every time he needs it.


Many people out there think Bob is stupid and that everything he is and does is for not (naught?) if it is not for money. Someone said to him, “All people on public assistance are already slaves and few are aware of it because you are delusional to reality.”


“I am delusional? I know how the system plays people who are unemployed, disabled, and elderly. It is not right, and Christians who work for a government agency or an agency that receives money from the government who say that people like myself have to follow the rules do not follow Jesus themselves. If they did, they would love their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. But instead, they make them follow rules that they know is not helping anyone, just keeping them under some ones authority when they have no authority. Rules don’t have authority, laws have authority. Its like saying that the “Golden Rule” has authority, but does it?”


“God’s commandments have authority, but not many even believe in God’s commandments or the commandments that the one we are to be following, Jesus Christ, the son of God. Jesus said in John 14:15 “If you love me, obey my commandments” and again John said in 1 John 2:3 “And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments.” How can you say that you Love Jesus, but you refuse to love your brother and sister in Christ because your hands are tied with rules.”
