Usually explaining a joke kills the humor but these two examples only make the scenes funnier.

So when do you think the show went to crap, if it did?

Some like @Harrison Gentleman think it definitely went to crap after the movie.

I think it went to crap after season 10, although some stuff soon after 10 was still good.

 

It was a slow decline from season 10 to the movie. I still enjoy a lot of the "bad" episodes from season 10 ("Viva Ned Flanders" is funny, I don't care what the fans say) but in the season leading up to the movie the only episode I liked was the 24 parody.

 

In the most recent episode, Marge and Homer get stranded in the wilderness and its played almost completely straight.

Worse yet there are people defending it. Their argument is that the show has failed as a "comedy" for so long so why not change the genre completely?

WAAAT!

 

IIRC "MovieBob" made the hot take that the show didn't change, the viewers did.

Is MovieBob so out of touch?

No. It's the fans who are wrong.

 

When Nelson "solved world hunger" by creating a disgusting loop with that realistic digestive system, it shouldn't have inflated and exploded.

Where is all that extra mass coming from? Are we to believe that it is some kind of "magic digestive system"?

 

Not that I don't appreciate the reference, but one of the great Simpsons running jokes is when things explode for no reason whatsoever.
