Considering The Room is such a surreal movie it felt really weird that other actors are portraying actors in a movie known for its acting.

That said, I'm gonna fucking see it as soon as I can.

I'm conflicted. One one hand, I'm a huge fan of the Room and I loved the Disaster Artist, but on the other hand I despise James Franco and Seth Rogen. If the movie ends up being absolutely nothing like anything those two have made before, then I'm down to watch it.

My money is on him being one of the people at the birthday party at the end of the film.

Wikipedia says Tommy's contractually obligated to appear in a cameo opposite James, and I think it's confirmed that Greg Sestero has a minor appearance. I'm curious to see what that cameo would be.

I just like the fact that a movie made with a bunch of nobodies on a shoestring budget is now, fourteen years later, getting an A-list big budget movie about it that seems to be one of the film highlights of the year.

Six million dollars isn't really a shoestring budget tho.
That's more than it cost to make The Usual Suspects.

I saw it a week or two ago, and you know what? It could've been a lot better. It cut some of the most interesting parts of the book out like when Tommy and Greg go see the Talented Mr. Ripley, and the part where Tommy is screaming at Greg while driving around in circles at high speed. I also really hated the handheld-style camera. I think it was terribly unfitting and the movie should've been shot more for comedy. Dave Franco was a shitty Greg, and his character hardly made any sense here. That scene where he just goes to the premier without even getting an apology from Tommy for acting like an asshat was infuriating. My biggest problem with the movie was actually all of Seth Rogen's comments about what's wrong with the Room. Do we really need to have all this shit explained to us when we've been discussing it in detail for the past 15 years already? I get that it's for the people that haven't already seen the Room, but I'm sure there's a better and more visual way they could've conveyed all this information to them. I've got some other minor problems with the movie like all the obligatory celebrity cameos (though I guess it's nice to see that Zac Efron is still getting work) and how it doesn't look like it takes place in the late '90's/early 2000's, but those really aren't a big deal. It was still an okay movie and I'll probably buy the Blu-Ray when it comes out, but fuck me do I wish this movie was better than it was. I guess I shouldn't have expected too much from a movie directed by a guy I hate, even if I loved his performance as Tommy.

The movie was one of the best feel-good shows I've seen in a long time. Everyone in the theater cheered at the end. I hope it wins some sort of award.
