You called it and I think it's not just me but so many other people whom want to see Voyager era, but not off on planet fuck off 9. Or farther on.

I also am side tracking, but Enterprise C (Ambassador class) is the best looking ship imho) From the post A-launch of D we have a ton of stuff to cover, not just those ships but a good 75 year gap to cover. Then later we have so much, DS9 had a lot going on we never saw (time line wise)

 

We're living in strange times when Seth MacFarlane has managed to make a better Star Trek show than CBS.

 

I'm not at all a fan of his humor. I want to say that as a personal thing. He works his butt off, and he has a huge appeal. I think this show will kill STD on ratings. I think for for what ever reasons STD drops fans, this can snag it. Plus there is a big over lap.

I have no beef just because he doesn't tickle my funny bone, he puts a lot of work into his shows and I think he will really hit ST lore well to help drag converts because A: good sales B: Seth is smart.

Honestly, I think this may flop if it does will be fast but, good chance it'll out live STD.

 

The Klingons look kind of like the Remans from Nemesis, only pitch black. It's a bit weird considering I'm used to the TNG look or even TOS' brownface ones. A buddy of mine said they looked like Orcs. Still, so long as it is not butt and has good in it, it'll be fine.

One of my favorite lines in all of star trek or dare say any media, is when Worf is asked why Klingons look different and he says roughly we don't like to talk about it. Great way to laugh at older lower budget makeup jobs.

Let's be honest at this point TOS Klingons were one step away from black face.

 

Yeah, it was in a Deep Space 9 episode when the crew goes back in time to the Trouble with Tribbles episode. They see the TOS Klingons and they ask Worf what happened. He just says that it's a long story and we don't discuss it with outsiders.



Also in Klingon (because I'm a conlang geek as well) saying "your mother has a smooth forehead" is the worst insult.

 

One thing that bugs me about the franchise is how so many of the aliens are just like Earthlings, but with odd bumps or ridges on their heads.

Yes, that one TNG episode explained why, but still it'd be nice if there was more variety.

 

Your spoiler covers it but it's also more budget issues early on and during later series they didn't want to drag out to many new species.

Frankly with how they acted etc, Breen shoulda been insects of sorts.

 

So recently I read the idea that apparently existed for a fifth TNG movie.

Basically, Shinzon would somehow unkill himself, and go back in time and recruit other Star Trek villains including Khan. And then Picard would have to travel through time, retrieve Data from before he suicided, go further back and get Kirk and fucking Archer as well to fight them. It didn't go ahead after Nemesis & Cancerprise shit the bed and nearly killed the franchise.

Now , the source on this is Brent Spiner and Patrick Stewart, two people notorious for taking the piss at conventions, so maybe they're making it up. But I can just imagine people in charge of the IP thinking it's a good idea and not a fanboys masturbationary fantasy.

 

I've been watching some of the TOS episodes lately. They get away with stuff that wouldn't fly in the current social climate.

 

This is why we appreciate the 60's as a turning point of the 20th century.

 

I still like Next Gen more.

 

Sounds interesting if I still have any cash left. Fathom Events seems to be the only time the mall cinema near me gets to play something niche to my interests.

 

I loooooove TWoK, but I don't think I can hit the theater on those days. I'll have to have my own movie night with my Khan action figures.

Holy smokes. I am so doing this. The 10th I'll also be at a small airport for a car and plane show, where I'll be displaying 2 cars I've built.

I couldn't think of a better way to end the day. TWoK is a top 5 movie ever for me.
