Space station 13 is a multiplayer, round based, role playing game that takes place in space. Every player has a role on the space station and they are expected to carry out certain duties relating to their job, that is until everything devolves into chaos. You see each round there are random assigned antagonists among the crew who have their own objectives and these come in many flavors and varieties spanning from assassins to crazy cultist to space wizards. On top of all of this there is an autistic amount of detail in everything, every facet of the station can be interacted with in a multitude of ways and in the hands of knowledgeable player can result in complex and nuanced gameplay or in the hands of inexperienced player a confusing, unwieldy mess; there's a reason why flooding engineering with plasma is a meme its very easy to fuck up if you dive in head first. That said that is kinda where the enjoyment comes from, learning and exploring all theses complex systems that and watching the station repeatably fall to pieces. Its a very fun game once you get into it, granted you play on the right serves. The whole thing runs on an outdated piece of shit called BYOND which is prone to lagging the fuck out or just plain crashing; people have different experiences accost the board and servers vary in how responsive they are, some run pretty great while others feel like their on the same server as the Cwcki. Another thing to note is that ever server is different in how the core game works to some degree so its worth knowing that what might work on one server might not work on the other. For new players, read the server rules, read wiki, watch videos on how to do shit in the game, and set your job preferences to assistance, your not expected to do any work so you can just explore the station and learn where everything is. The game is worth checking out just expect to be in over your head.
