I think the interesting thing about Idea Guy is that his schtick is original - he's the first troll who's managed to convince Chris of being characters from his own headspace. The Nazi references do get repetitive after a bit, but it seems like that's a tip of the iceberg kind of situation. Take the Rosechu is trans update. That one was great. Chris freaked out over it, and was even trans-shaming Rosechu by putting up a poll about whether she should stay trans or not. In that case, the freak-out was public. Same with smashing the Christine Doll.

In most cases, though, Chris's reactions to Idea Guy's changes haven't been made public. How did he react to that update about Jamsta molesting Punchy? Or to CWCville being invaded? Did he freak out over those, too? Seems part of the reason Idea Guy has a bad rap is people see Chris posting updates about Sonichu with weird changes and assume someone paid him to slip in stuff that goes over his head. But that doesn't hold up because Chris isn't going to alter his magnum opus for just anyone or for cash - it would have to be because he genuinely believes this stuff is happening. And Chris doesn't like change. So how is he dealing with all these changes to his imaginary safe space?

 

Earlier in another thread (or maybe this one, I forget) I said that I think that it's possible that Chris might actually be schizophrenic and not autistic. He did say that he thinks that what happens in Cwcville with Sonichu and the like are real, and he did say that he used to imagine Sonichu in real life talking to him. The thing about schizophrenics hallucinating and hearing voices is that eventually the voices change. They start out positive, then slowly get darker, going from a voice from a doll agreeing with everything the person thinks, to starting to disagree over some things (going from eating ice cream every night to saying "I think I'd rather eat cookies tonight instead of ice cream). Eventually the auditory hallucinations start getting more malicious (I've heard a common first thing heard is "I don't love you anymore.").

I know it's a troll doing this, and I think that the schizophrenic theory I came up with has a lot of holes in it, but it's kind of interesting to think that the amount of disturbing things being introduced into Sonichu (as opposed to the earlier disturbing things, which seemed mostly based on his worldview and getting imaginary revenge on people who wronged him) is actually his schizophrenia getting worse.

Also, if this theory has any weight, we would never hear the end of it from Hirtes.

 

Does he honestly believe the idea guy is Sonichu reporter or something? If so, the dude has some dangerously serious issue, ala @TheVoid 's schizophrenia theory

 

Yeah. I think it's not as bad as schizophrenia, more like wishful thinking, and Idea Guy takes advantage of that for his access. This is how Marvin put Chris's beliefs:

Just wondering, where are you drawing the line with this? Chris's thoughts on changing religion were his own, even if Idea Guy did inadvertently provide some fuel by role-playing Neptunia characters to him. Also, this forum has individual threads for Idea Guy's past content, which are open for discussion. Locking one now seems unnecessary.

Speaking of which. Are there any other war reports he made? Those were really well made. And interesting.

 

Personally, I think that Idea Guy's reveal brought out some unfortunate drama on KF that has pretty much dominated the discussion on him. Idea Guy became boring once his identity was revealed and he stopped interacting with Chris. What has happened is basically because Idea Guy is boring people have basically decided that they'd rather talk about how KF handled the situation. If we let that get out of hand, it could be bad.

That said, Idea Guy is dull, but the information that has come up (like the message you posted a while ago) definitely is interesting, and the methods he used to manipulate Chris are also interesting. If we had more content from behind-the-scenes, discussion about him would probably move away from "Lolz, he's such an unfunny and boring ween, I'm glad this is over, worst saga ever," and KF stuff. However, from the way it's been portrayed, it seems like the people who have that content are hesitant about posting it. I mean, as the Chris drought has proven, when we have a lack of information, we fill in the gaps with speculation.

You can't have Idea Guy's identity become known due to drama with Yawning Sneasel, then have his reveal coincide with the additional reveal that a number of users and mods knew about it ahead of time and not have people wanting to talk about it. The biggest issue is that people want to talk about it on the site itself and on this site, which is more-or-less a spin-off of the site.
