is there another video site where people post rare clips from tv shows? Daily Motion used to be the place to go to but their search is broken or something.

I remember the lost media wiki, but they got pretty tismal.

The best submission I could find for this thread was a restored version of Lang's Metropolis which included formerly missing footage. Unfortunately, that's been erased. There is, however, a rescore of the movie on Youtube by a group called The New Pollutants, complete with the missing footage.

If I had to give my opinion, I'd have to say this rescore is actually pretty poor. You'd think they'd just redo the original score note for note like the Psycho remake to present the movie with the same soundtrack as done with modern equipment. Instead they go for a shitty Industrial soundtrack with a lot of girl moaning & the occasional string orchestration.

Now, since the movie is about crushing & exhausting labor conditions ruled over by a class of people who live in Garden of Eden-esque conditions, an Industrial soundtrack wouldn't be inappropriate on paper. The problem I have is they went with the "evil techno" concept of Industrial. It also doesn't help that this new soundtrack drowns out the imagery by exaggerating the mood of every scene. You can just tell they were using Lang's movie to promote their band. But whatever, it's a free copy of a movie.

Having grown up during the MTV era, I'm more for Giorgio Moroder's take on Metropolis personally. You have to give him credit for even considering such a task when most everyone else forgot this film existed.

Even without the missing scenes, it still felt rather impressive for those who just saw it for the first time this way.

This is probably the best place to put this. Almost nothing is known about it, except that it exists.
Nobody knows about the year it was made in (or even decade, for that matter), and the studio and people that worked on it appeared to have gone Alan Smithee with it.
Is it a glitch in the matrix? Who knows.

You're not alone. There's plenty of oddities like these out there in people's garages, basements and attics of the world.

Apologies for the thread necromancy, but I have recently gotten interested in lost media or rare media and I might make some posts about the subject soon.
