This is one of those spergy open questions that has been asked before elsewhere but usually with the same crowd of people and getting the same answers. Since there's a different audience here with less of the "common people", I thought it'd be interesting to ask on this site in particular.

A lot of Disco posters on The Other Forum regard as a truism that "Chris is funniest when left to his own devices"—that is, when trolls are not influencing the way he acts. They argue, the trolls didn't tell Chris to burn his house down, they never told him to visit a Game Stop wielding pepperspray, therefore Chris shouldn't be manipulated to get "content" out of him because it's not necessary. There is, on the other hand a dissenting group of whom the most prominent member is Marvin (who unfortunately isn't with us at the moment) which disagrees with that idea.

According to Marvin, Chris is really only funny when he's in the midst of a trolling saga. When he isn't he's just a boring, unremarkable tranny who does little. If you agree with this view it means that either you encourage trolling of Chris or you think he's no longer a funny lolcow and will fade into obscurity with time.

I'm undecided on this. I wasn't around for the Chris golden age at all since I'm a newfag, but even I can see that the trolls wrought out a lot of humorous content from him. The frozen sperm video that just came out was definitely something a troll convinced Chris to do as it's not something he'd do on his own without prompting. So was the HeyLadyFriends video that came out last November (probably).

However, you have to take in account that most of even the "golden age" trolling would be looked down upon if it was done now and that some of it caused him emotional, and in Bluespike's case physical damage. So in a lot of cases there's "troll's remorse" which makes people want to believe that not only was it wrong but that Chris would be funnier on his own anyway.

I would say Chris is the best when he's left to his own devices, but in the sense of when weens leave him the hell alone and any "trolling" done to him is coordinated by people like Marvin, who know what they're doing.

Then again, ween stuff has been sort of funny at times in how pathetic it was, such as the "I'M BATMAN!!!" call. I'm really conflicted as to what makes it funniest, because I've just sort of sat back and laughed the whole time. The weirdest stuff has certainly come about when Chris was more or less receiving a reduced amount of troll attention.

I think that Chris is most funny when people A-log him because it reveals more interesting cows

I tend to believe that he's at his funniest when interacting with trolls but not being excessively guided. Presenting Chris with a situation and letting him process and react to it in his own way is usually much funnier than just outright fucking with him.

As with most things in life, a degree of balance is important.

Without trolls, Chris probably would have lead a relatively boring life, and much of the content we've enjoyed throughout the years would not exist.
However, I also think that Chris is at his funniest when going 'off-script' and unloading streams of his own bizarre consciousness into the world.
    The Shovel-Mech video, for example.

Chris is at his funniest with trolls, without them he can be rather boring though still autistic. As long as people aren't trying to box him in too much trolling produces most of Chris' greatest hits.
