I have two, both of them happen to based off of video games.

It's like a parody of in name only adaptations, and Bob Hoskins as Mario was simply amazing. And I simply can't hate Dennis Hopper, no matter what movie he's in.

This was just a hilarious rump of cheesiness, and I'm pretty sure none of the actors were taking it seriously (especially Raul Julia).

  3. For some god-awful reason I unironically love the SyFy/Asylum monster movie Mega Piranha. To the point where, yes, I own a DVD copy of it and, yes, I have watched it quietly by myself and not just on the bad movie nights where my friends and I riff terrible things.

I'll admit to unfunny old-time comedy, as far as guilty pleasures go.
    img15.jpg
On Broadway back in the day, the comedy team of Bobby Clark and Paul McCullough were about as famous as the Marx Brothers. And like many Broadway stars of that era, they traveled to Hollywood and made some pictures. However, the duo never achieved cinema stardom and are largely forgotten today.

The problem was simply that their movies were bad. Although people on set with Clark and McCullough recall take after take being spoiled by irrepressible laughter from cast and crew, the same material elicited only the dullest of chuckles from movie audiences. Unlike the Marx Bros., who worked very hard to transform their stage routines for the new medium of sound cinema, Clark and McCullough never bothered. They considered themselves Broadway stars who just happened to film promotional shorts in the off season, not movie actors.

Clark's comedy persona was high energy and abrasive, with a surrealist wacky streak (note his signature drawn-on glasses). Onstage, this was tempered by the steady, grounding sweetness of McCullough's character, who is almost always for some reason named Blodgett. In their films, this balance is rarely apparent - it's Clark Clark Clark like a comedy jackhammer, while McCullough does so little one begins to wonder why he is there at all.

Many critics are unkind to Bobby Clark, whom they accuse of rewriting the material to favor himself and seize a larger portion of the limelight. In fact, Paul McCullough asked to have his roles minimized, as he was suffering from crippling depression and finding it increasingly difficult to perform. In early 1936, McCullough took his own life. After entering a barber shop and requesting a shave, he snatched the barber's razor and slashed his own throat and wrists.

Amidst the celluloid wreck of Clark and McCullough's legacy are a few glittering shards - rarely punchlines, but rather, offhand gestures that are deeply, naturally, heartbreakingly funny.

Depression is a hell of a thing.

    This thing comes to mind:

This absolute steaming piece of shit isn't even a trainwreck, it's a whole fucking star destroyer wreck. The sole idea that such a thing could come into existance is baffling.
Yet I laughed though every minute of it. I even think I should watch it again some day, maybe invite a friend over.

Bleh, new to the forum and didn't notice that there was a thread specifically for those terrible turkish ripoff films. Still I think this one is pretty much the flagship of these and for me it certainly qualifies as a guilty pleasure.

I like the Resident Evil films.
    ...
Except for The Final Chapter, that's too much of a confused, nonsensical mess even for me.

    Arrapaho.
A band who used to make funny skits and songs tried to make a full-length movie.
    It didn't end so well.

It is cool to see some of the music skits come to life, but the movie core (the misadventures of a Native American who loves a girl from another tribe) is weak and unfunny.

Ah, the title is a bad punchline too, since arrapato means "horny" in Italian.

    - I've ironically liked Bee Movie before it was cool. It's easier on the eyes than Shark Tale ever will be.

    - I sometimes still go back and watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III if only to point-and-laugh at its badness... but not always.

    - The Digimon Movie is a mess, but I love it anyway if only because of the dub.

    - I can't hate Dragonheart II for some reason.
