Adding one more to the Undertale pile.

Also adding one more to the Mother pile. I liked 1 as it was more of just a weird RPG, but 2 tried to be something special. It did, but then everyone started sucking its figurative dick and now it's $200 on eBay when it's not actually that fun. Especially since, for me, the novelty began to wear thin after Fourside.

Sad thing is I did initially really like Undertale but i didn't play it for about six months after release because the internet hype put me off. It's a shame when a genuinely cool little game gets its reputation ruined by the internet hype train to the point where you can't enjoy it as its own thing.

    Final Fantasy 7.

Hands down, THE most over-rated game I've ever seen with the longest lived rabid fans who will defend it as God's gift to Playstation until their last dying breath.

The original Legend of Zelda for NES. Honestly? I'd rather play Hydlide, and I don't like Hydlide. The original Super Mario Bros. remains a treat to this day, but the LoZ is an obtuse mess that just happened to be in the right place at the right time for it to achieve its popularity. That's not to say there aren't great Zelda games out there, but LoZ ain't of them.

Nyah nyah, there's no Autistic rating to give me.

Personally, I generally don't like to throw around the word "overrated" alot; I ironically considered the word itself to be overrated.
That said, I'm going to have to say Fire Emblem. Or more specifically, Fire Emblem ever since it hit the 3DS.
There's just something that feels wrong about the new games, and I do not approve of the gratuitous fanservice and weaboo pandering throughout these titles. And Nintendo is just whoring the series out at this point, making me wish that it would all just die.
It doesn't help that they're a honeypot for goopergate drama, as well.

i noticed that the writing for this m rated game is really hamfisted. father is a stereotypical good guy who's gonna die, the bad guys are like a 13 year old who just learned how to say 'fuck', and the narrative is ENCLAVE BAD. ENCLAVE ALWAYS DROP FINGERS. and then later on you're being rushed and it's like QUICK QUICK HURRY GET TO THE ENDING HURRY GET TO THE END. and you have to have dlc for your possible super mutant pal to say 'oh sure i'll put that thingy in the really radioactive thingamabobber'.

(i still like it though, but good god it's like a 5 year old did the rough drafts and a 13 year old edited them and a 30 year old okayed it)

Moira Brown and her quests were the best part of Fallout3.

Zelda: Link to the Past. Not really the hype, but how it became the mold for the series. Get an item in the level, use that item on the boss, maybe use it to get something on the overworld. Repeat until the game is done. Got dumbed down for OoT and stayed there.

Personally, I think Zelda: Twin Peaks (Link's Awakening) was a much better game.

Dark Souls. Some of the fanboys of the franchise are downright fanatical and I've talked with people that have defended flaws like janky camera and shitty inventory system as "realistic". And the pvp's always felt unresponsive and laggy, idk how anyone can play it. Speaking of:
I've played and beaten DS1, DS3, and Bloodborne. Doesn't matter how frame-perfect my roll is when the boss's backside takes up the whole screen. Or when I'm retreating and the lock breaks, centering my camera behind me and removing my enemy from view.

sounds like you don't know how to use in game camera and rely too much on lock-on to save your ass

Sorry but I agree with @Sseyn
A key part that makes the souls series so fantastic is how frustrating, but forgiving the difficulty.
The game will beat you, cheat you, tear you to shreads and burn the pieces, but it only ever ends why you give up, the game will kick you down but it'll never take your legs.
The reason "git gud" is the motto of the series is because we all started at the same place and we've all been violated by this game, many many times. The only difference between the champions and the losers of this game is that the champions never stopped trying.

Ur proving my point. Can't admit the lock-on for the game is too soft, the game is absolutely 100% perfect and any flaw is user error. Either way I was pressing buttons, nothing I could do, this game is bullshit dood.

Yes, why can't the game just know that I need the camera to stay on me at all times when I tell it to lock onto a target and then immediately run away from said target? Stupid game, do as I tell you, which is to focus on a target only for me to yell at you when I run away from it and get frustrated when my view is completely fucked up because I can't be bothered to toggle off lock-on when I need to escape?

Toggling lock-on to fit the need of a given confrontation? What am I, Korean? I can't be pressing buttons all the time, I have so many things I need to be doing like, hitting r1. And running away when my candy ass can't handle getting hit.

    This game is bugged, yo.

Lock-off breaking when I look away isn't my problem (although that does fuck with the camera), it's when I backpeddle some arbitrary distance and suddenly I can't follow that mob anymore. Some indicator that you're moving out of range is really all I'd need.
I'll fully admit that I'm a coward in Dark Souls, much like DSP.

    EDIT: Somehow quoted myself lol

I see a lot of people using the lock-on in Dark Souls for almost every battle, the trick to DS is knowing when to lock-on and when not to.

All this argument is doing is confirming Yoda's POV on the fanbase and the notion that the game is indeed an overrated piece of programming to me fam.
