FB 5/11 - Chris in the running for Best Local Minor Celebrity (6/3 - Chris lost, mad at trolls)

Hell, this is the kind of stuff Classic Chris would have explicitly condoned. He did try ballot-stuffing in the PaRappa contest, and one can only imagine what he thought after the Guitar Hero contest.

 

It's kind of a shame that all the weens felt the need to get their shit jokes in, because there's now almost no way they'll actually announce Chris as a winner for anything.
I was personally looking forward to seeing what the result would be once Chris picked up the victory, and how things would play out from there, but I guess I'm in the minority.

 

I'm cracking up, Chris has been removed but Clyde Cash and Snorlax still there. Anxiously awaiting his freakout video.

 

If he sees (or finds out) Clyde's name is still up, you just KNOW he'll make a video where he'll swear that Clyde is the mastermind behind his name being removed.

You know, since these are only the nominations, and they said that they would decide who would be on the final ballot based on the number of votes and disqualify any nomination with a lot of votes that wasn't relevant to the category, they could have just let Christine win every category, then not have her on the final ballot.

It looks like that chris has been removed from everything. Shame really, that was fun.

 

The thing is, no matter who wins this contest Chris is still going to post something funny.

Probably aren't aware of too much of Christory and don't know what Christian Love Day is.

Makes me wonder if we couldn't just vote Clyde Cash to the top of every poll, or even Ricardo Chandler.

 

My guess is that after seeing Christine Weston Chandler in every category, they figured it was a bot or something and removed all those, but more 'subtle' things slipped under the normies' radar. Subtle things like Asperger's Awareness Marathon (Annual Event), Robert Chandler Memorial Lumberjack Games (Annual Event), 4-Cent_Garbage Office Beer-a-thon (Annual Event), and JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY (Annual Event).

To me it seems that whatever is left either slipped under the organizer's radar, or was added after the purge, like this one:

 

This is my favorite kind of trolling - it's pretty harmless and pretty funny.

 

100 percent of the people who I ask if they know who Chris Chan is say no. The world at large doesn't know who Chris is. He is only a minor "celebrity" to a small group of people like us but but as a whole Chris is not a celebrity period.

 

I have never mentioned Chris to anyone in person because odds are they won't know who he is, I will have to show them and they'll be disgusted by his antics and maybe more so disgusted with me for following what he does.

 

There was an article I read a few years ago where the person writing it talked about MatPat and his video where he talked about Internet celebrities. At the time, MatPat had millions of subscribers and millions of people were aware of his name and what he did. But, the person writing the article went out into the streets of the city that he/she lived in and asked a bunch of random people (around 40, I think) if they had ever heard of MatPat, and the majority said that they hadn't. The person then asked his/her friends and almost half of them said that they hadn't heard of him. So, the conclusion that was reached is basically that, even though millions of people were aware of MatPat, the majority of the people in the world had absolutely no idea who he was. Similarly, I've asked people who Carole King is, and the overwhelming majority of the people I've asked said that they have never heard of her, and the woman sold more than 20 million copies of a single album. Most people are actually unaware of 'Candle in the wind', which sold more copies than any other single in the digital age, yet they are aware of songs like 'Call Me Maybe'.

The people who I hang out with usually know who Chris is, or at least are aware of Sonichu or the more popular videos he has. I remember the macing incident catching my manager's attention and she brought it up one day "Did you hear about that guy who maced a Gamestop employee because of Sonic's arms". When I play a multiplayer game (like Salem, or CoD) I'll sometimes say something like "Zap to the extreme!" or "JUUULLLAAAYYYY" and a small amount of people will usually have at least a vague idea of what I'm talking about. Also, last time I checked (which was a few years ago), the 'Julay' video racked up around 4 million hits.

In conclusion, just because the people you hang out with and mention Chris to (if you do that) are unaware of Chris, does not mean that he isn't famous (or internet famous) or any less of a minor celebrity. Yeah, he's not Tom Cruise, but he's far from being just some obscure guy online that a couple of people make fun of on an internet forum.

 

For now. Eventualy chris' star will burn out, not with a bang by an annoying stress sigh.

 

Well, everyone's star burns out eventually, but at least people will remember a star (vaguely) after it burns out.
