I do love my newfangled vidya music. There's a lot I could post here but I'll start with some stuff I have saved to my phone's favourites list.
Fun fact: in the Japanese version of No More Heroes 2, the song is edited with an added vocaloid autotune program. The Japanese version isn't very good.
These last 2 take me back. Wario World was one of my childhood favourites. I'd still argue it's one of the best games on the Gamecube.
Listening to these makes me wish I didn't break my PsVita. Ech.
Of course there are game I've played that have great soundtracks in general. I'll have to make more posts about those specific ones later.
(Edited my first post into 2 seperate ones due to media limitations)
The Crash games have always had outstanding and memorable soundtracks, but if you asked me which one had the best music, I'd have to go out on a limb and say Twinsanity. The acapella theme made it one of the most unique soundtracks of any game to date and I can't get enough of it.
These aren't the only 10/10 songs from the game, but I'd rather not fill up the thread with 10 songs from 1 game unless I know people are interested in it.
Rule of Rose has some rad as heck jams.
Pathologlic also has some chill tunes.
As an honorable mention, Silent Hill's jams of course.
Homecoming was okay, but I did enjoy Scarlet's boss fight, especially the music.
Goddamn I love Civ 5 and it's cultural instruments. Ironically, the best peace themes all seem to belong to warmongers.
But hands down the best peace theme is Shaka Zulu's, the most warmongering of them all.
But that's okay though cause he got the best war theme too
Edit: that pathologic game looks really good. I'll have to try it out sometime.
Posting in the favourite childhood games thread made me think of this.
My biggest regret in life is that I'll never play Chrono Trigger for the first time again.
I have a couple of favorites.
