In the U.S. less than one percent of insanity defences are actually allowed. chris will have to under go a thorough evaluation by a court appointed psychologist.

More than likely chris will be found to be a spoiled manchild and taken to trial.

 

I theorize he'll be found to be incompetent but still perfectly sane and in control of his own actions.

I really want to see the interrogation footage with him in police custody.

 

Did CWC "talk to Sonichu" like he did in the office of Mary Lee Walsh?

I'm not gonna rule out Chris getting a lifetime anonymity order, if the court catches wind of the Kiwi Farms drama. I say this because it has happened in the UK, to a manslaughter convict formerly known as Mary Bell.

 

If I read this right, an anonymity order would mean Chris lives under a pseudonym upon being released, whether that's after being acquitted in a matter of months or after years in an institution.

Personally don't see that happening, at least not successfully. For one, should Chris need to register as a sex offender, as some have proposed might happen, I would think an anonymity order conflicts with that. For another, Chris has always been "Christine/Christian/Christopher 'Ricardo' Weston Chandler." The name is, troublingly, the linchpin of their identity, if Liquid Chris showed us anything. Having to assume a new identity and keep quiet about it would not sit easily with Chris.

 

Even if Chris was willing to part with Christine, Christian, Christopher, Ricardo (and Sonichu) and live under a proper pseudonym, she has precisely no capability of remaining anonymous. Unless she's forced through a shit-tonne of therapy as part of the re-hab, she'd accidentally give the game up in well under a month.

Chris could never live in anonymity or something like witness protection. His ego is way too large that he would blow it within a few days “I’m internet famous for creating Sonichu”. I don’t buy insanity in his case as a defense. Obviously he has mental health issues but he’s always known right from wrong and I think he knows what he did with Barb was wrong which is why he only told “trusted friends” and didn’t announce it on Twitter.

 

Weens likely wouldn't be of much help either.

Chris could be all "hmm yeah it's CWC; Please keep This email Strictly Confidential", and then there's yet another leak.

 

Even if he had the will power to STFU about being efamous and about Sonichu, how long would it take to pick him out of the crowd of people going on about ponies and Sanic on Twitter or whatever? Probably not long. He'd have to be banned from having any internet presence.

And you're right about the insanity issue. Barb was probably in that vulnerable state for at least a couple of years before Chris persuaded himself it was okay to rape her. He knew it was wrong. At least at some point.

 

Being pretty optimistic on the time line. I would give it two weeks.

The previous times Chris was in the pokey were nothing compared to this time.

 

He only spent one night in jail after the Snyder incident, right? As I recall he was flipping out and crying over just that.

 

Although this time Chris can cope with "da merge is on" - at least for now.

 

Assuming the worst — the authorities have sufficient proof of rape — would that mean another arraignment, or can that be introduced at this hearing on 9/16?

 

I think having a new identity might cause a new level of dissonance in Chris. On the one hand, he's claimed that he wants to escape the trolls for a long time (and his change in gender identity may reflect that, as he's not the only one [see "Trolling Induced Transgender Syndrome"]), and thisay give him a way to do it.

But on the other hand, Chris has always believed that there is a certain level of magic in names and that changing someone's name without their permission gives him a degree of power over them. Will he allow the government to, in his own mind, hold that level of power over him by changing his name?
