So Blade Runner 2049 came out and I loved it personally.
However despite it getting positive critical and audience reception it seems to be selling poorly.

So what are your thoughts on the movie?

The thing about the new movie is the same thing with a lot of remakes and sequels to classic movies. The original Blade Runner, which is considered a classic nowadays, received critical acclaim when it was released but according to Wikipedia made almost 34 million at the box office during it's run. Blade Runner 2049 has apparently already made more than that in it's opening weekend.

Really, the film is doing pretty well at the box office, but with the incredibly large budgets required to make the movie (not to mention the cost to market it) it needs to surpass the original financially by an absolutely absurd degree to make (I'm estimating here, my numbers might be wrong) about 325 million to be considered a financial success. That's absolutely ridiculous.

I haven't had the chance to see Blade Runner 2049, but I've heard a lot of very good things about the movie and I'm excited to see it when I get a free day.

I have to confess my sin and say that I have never seen the original in it's entirety. It is my dad's absolute all-time favorite movie, he's got like 3 different cuts of it on DVD, and I still haven't watched it all. I need to rectify this.
