Adult Swim and April Fools Day

A little late, but was it great?

 

It was alright. They did a thing called "Adult Swim Jr." with kiddie-themed bumps and gag dubs of preexisting shows.

 

Speaking of Adult Swim, the KF logo was changed to the Death Note logo.

(I still remember when they aired Death Note on [as].)

 

They've brought back King of the Hill and Futurama.

 

That's good.

Back in the day [as] became much less watchable after the end of Futurama.

 

Meatwad: Why don't you ask that TV if he'd mind showing me some Futurama? I like me some Futurama.
Master Shake: Well, now we're too damn cheap to receive it, so go the hell over to Carl Central and watch it to your heart's content.
Meatwad: Carl gets Futurama?
Master Shake: He didn't even want it until we started watching it.

 

When Comedy Central got the broadcasting rights to Futurama, they showed it on a really unpredictable schedule, IIRC.

 

I heard Adult Swim tried to get syndication rights for both Archer and Always Sunny but Comedy Central outbid them. Then they barely aired either show.

 

The long-awaited first season of Smiling Friends premiered this week. The show is created by Zach Hadel (psychicpebbles) and Michael Cusack and features a lot of cameos I won't spoil for you. One voice you won't hear is Chris despite a rumor floating around last year.

This was pre-merge and everybody was talking about the potential PR nightmare that would come from this. I think AS learned their lesson after giving Sam Hyde his own show.

 

Chris never got to voice that grease puddle.

 

Funny this is when I wrote my post I didn't even know they had a character in mind for Chris. The creators talked in an interview about wanting to get internet celebrities to voice minor roles similar to how South Park got George Clooney to play a dog.

 

Sounds like the story of Futurama back in the day.

How egotistical would Chris have gotten had the VA offer been made?

 

I've been back and forth on this one. It's an official "Yep, I'm on TV" but I could see him taking issue with playing a grease puddle and a very minor role to boot.

 

I watched the live stream on YouTube. It could've picked up more steam after Rick & Morty but it kind of fizzled out. Still a neat idea. It makes me wonder if they'll do the glitch concept again when (if?) the actual show premieres.
