There's kind of a reason for that. Cats are usually the ones who go to the bathroom in a specific place indoors, which is why they have litter boxes and newspapers (in some cases, never known anyone who uses newspapers for cats). Dogs aren't too picky about where they go. If people do use newspaper for dogs, they'd probably just spread a whole bunch of newspaper on the floor around an area that the dog frequents, or just lock the dog in a room with a floor covered in newspaper.

When my parents kennel trained our dogs they put newspaper on the floor of the kennel, but I think that's pretty much just common sense when you're kennel training puppies.

I see. But it doesn't explain why chris would have to kennel train their dogs. they have a back yard, and they wouldn't care if their one dog took a shit outside since Patti was an outdoor dog. If Snoopy and Clover were Dachshunds I could understand it since little dogs like that get frostbitten quite easily. Maybe chris would rather clean up shit and piss on his own time than be taken away from vidya games to let the dogs out.

 

Well considering they met at a bar, My vote is for lots and lots of alcohol.

 

It could just be that the hoard makes it so difficult to get around the house that when the dogs wanted to go outside (assuming that they were housetrained at some point), it was easier to just wait for them to go indoors than to navigate through the hoard to the door. It's also possible that Chris doesn't know how to house train dogs and Barb can't house train dogs at this point in time, so they just let the dogs do whatever they want rather than discipline them or train them (unless the dogs annoy them, as we've seen in the stream. One of the dogs made a noise off-camera when Chris went to make them stop braying, and some people on KF believed that he had hurt them somehow then returned to finish the stream).

I mean, it makes sense that since Patti was an outside dog that Chris never had to house train her or let her outside. He might have just assumed that Clover and Snoopy would already know to go to the backyard to do their business (I think that he once said that he leaves the door open so that the cats can go outside whenever they please). When they didn't do that, he had no idea how to train them to go outside, so he just took the path of least resistance by cleaning up their poop at his leisure.

It's always sad to see the Chandler pets in the situation that they're in. Of course, I feel less bad for the cats than for the dogs because cats seem to enjoy environments where they can fend for themselves and wander around as they please, while dogs don't do well in that kind of environment. I see stray cats all the time hiding around dumpsters and sleeping under decks at night. Dogs tend to search for a 'pack' of some kind rather than fend solely for themselves, whether that pack is humans or other dogs doesn't matter too much. I don't see stray dogs stay on the street for too long for this reason. In fact, if you ever go to Mexico you'd see a bunch of men with dogs. The dogs are almost exclusively strays that wandered up to the men begging for scraps of food that the men adopted and chose to take care of. Dogs beg for food, cats will just try and steal food.

 

The one good thing about this video is that it's mercifully short, but even then, it's still 4 seconds too long.

 

Unless barb likes to hoard dogshit too.

I knew plenty that did this (those in urban areas specially).

It's a shame he couldn't be half assed to do that at all. Having the dogs go out the backdoor for a few minutes is far better than picking up soiled newspapers.

There’s a hypothesis that sometimes floats around KF that Barb baby-trapped Bob.
We know Barb was close to menopause when Chris was conceived so it’s not totally out of the question that Bob figured she couldn’t get pregnant. Knowing what we know of Barb I could see her “failing to mention” she was still fertile.
One old people sexual intercourse later and, OH SHIT! Can’t leave her now.

 

Somewhere in the universe there's an alternate timeline where we had the "Divorce Saga" and we watched Chris deal with Bob leaving the family and watching Barb and Chris deteriorate like this from a distance.
