Picked this up on a whim and loved every minute of it. Except when my Saturn's battery would die and I'd lose my saves. And when it decided to not detect my memory cartridge. And when it suddenly gave me data for another scenario that would crash immediately.

Game was fun enough none of that bothered me. That or I was a very stupid, persistent kid.

This thing was an absolute blast to play. For those who don't know, it is actually a RPG. It concerns Mario and Luigi travelling to a foreign kingdom to defeat an evil witch and getting into numerous goofy slapstick misadventures in the process.

I never actually beat it, because I was a stupid kid with no idea about how to git gud, but it sure as hell was fun.

Honestly this was always my favorite out of the entire series, which I guess is a rather underrated opinion.
I really just loved as a kid how it added elements of LotR and GoW, because those were also things I loved
at the time. It also lavishly executed a final and perfect ending for the series before its final demise, that we
    call Skylanders.

Super Mario 64, the original Animal Crossing, and SSBM are what I remember playing the most as a kid. I also played Gauntlet: Dark Legacy a lot with my parents, who grew up with the original Gauntlet.

Oh, hell yes. That game was the shit.

I've beaten this game at least 20 times. I still love it. I loved Thousand Year Door too and it really sucks that every PM game after that sucked. :(

    Oh, I forgot to add...

I also played the shit out of this one. It was a great time waster. I remember it especially fondly because my mother played it too, which was the first and last time I've seen her enjoy a video game. Further attempts to convince her to buy other AC games were unfruitful, though :(.

I occasionally still catch myself humming the game's music to myself. It has crossed my mind to reboot it, but I dread to see the state my town must be in after all these years.

Elementary school pretty much Pokemon everything which feels unoriginal, but so many people played it including kids that might have not played a ton of games previously or been into games as a whole, so it became a really easy way to meet people outside normal circle.

Played a lot more games in general through middle school and early high school. Starcraft 1, CS 1.6, F-Zero GX, SSBM, Fire Emblem, Jedi Knight Academy, then a short list of soul-sucking korean MMORPGs.

The original Spyro games really got me into gaming. Spyro 2 was always my favorite.

The very first video game I ever played in my life was Wario Land 3, I actually replayed it a couple months back and even after 16 years the game still holds up perfectly

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis! It was a LucasArts game and it was fucking sweet because you got to be Indiana Jones and solve dank puzzles while fighting Nazis.

One of the cool things about it was it was practically three different games, because other than the beginning and the end you could pick one of three branches to follow, all of which were different.

They made a CD version with voice acting but my computer didn't have a CD drive so I played the voiceless floppy version.

If you like adventure games it's really great. Now that I think about it I made a really good friend in school because he was also playing it.

5 games summed up my childhood: Pokemon XD, Kingdom Hearts 2, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, (kinda like the game Froddy posted, but it's full 3d fighting then 2.5d fighting) Team Fortress 2 and Sam & Max Season 1. If i recall i still have my case of Pokemon XD around somewhere.

Adventure (Atari 2600 and for you nerds we had a Light Sixer)
    Mega Man 2
    The first 3 SMB games
Rygar (the arcade version, NES was pretty much a different game altogether)

Another one I grew up with was Unreal. I swear that game is such a nostalgia trip when I see all the amazing environments.
Plus, that score by Michael van den Bos was absolutely stunning.
    Here, have a listen.
