    Or maybe even stage plays, but even Shakespeare doesn't have this much dialogue and this many off-stage events described by on-stage characters.

    Teachers probably tried to teach Chris Shakespeare in junior high or high school, but Goosebumps was far more riveting...

    I mean, it does make it easier to simultaneously play two lead parts in A Midsummer Night's Dream if you can decided your won stage directions...
