One of my favorites for sure, was a good watch as always. I think it was first time I saw Sven host it.

Another classic on deck: The Wolf Man, with Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela as a supporting actor. Never seen this one before.

Yeah ending is a bit a let down, still a great flick!

House of Frankenstein this weekend. It's one of the sillier ones, well not intending to be. Karloff is not the monster in this film, it's worth a watch perhaps I'll give it a re watch it just was a bit over the top while not being goofy.

Karloff not playing Frankenstein is weird casting. This is like The Avengers for monster movies if they made Downey Jr. be the Hulk.

Karloff had a love hate being the creature, he was a great actor and anyone who's seen the grinch cartoon can say what an amazing voice he had. But he also knew he was loved for it, it paid the bills and he was one of the few able to do it (both in skill and make up) So yeah I'm sure he was thrilled to flex his chops a bit.

This Sat, has one with a story sadder than the film.
    The movie house of horrors.
Based on a plot to enter a new "monster/villain" The Creeper. Stared by Rondo Hatton the ugliest man in hollywood. Who was a very irl kind soul and great actor but had a disorder that claimed him very young, and frankly.. with respect due he was an ugly mother fucker.

The plot is pretty simple, a depressed artist is gonna kill himself, saves The creeper not knowing he's well a bad guy, then he gets mad people don't like his art and has the creeper pay the favor back by killing the haters.

What's lost to time is how many scripts, were written but sadly Rondo passed after this film. If you look closely Alan Naiper who played Alfred in 1960s Batman does show up for a bit.

Straight-Jacket was maybe the most explicitly gory 60's film I've seen. It really felt like it anticipated the slasher movies of the 80s, the axe-murderer sneaking up on people in their house totally reminded me of a Halloween movie. Also Joan Crawford looks like she had a blast filming it.
