So if someone draws sanichew fanart, "Her Royal Highness" has an automatic license to commit copyright infringement with it?

 

He's really almost begging people to use his art to troll him with.

How long till Hirtes makes a sock with a sonichu avatar preaching the 14 words or something.

 

*sighs* I've just finished a goddamn 17 hour day. Chris best be thankful that Patreon buries their reporting pages because I'm just in the right mood to not put up with his smug bullshit tonight.

 

Eh, to be fair, if Chris is giving proper credit to the person who drew the piece, it's not really stealing.

Then again, knowing Chris, he'll find some way to screw up something as simple as that...

 

Possibly, but...
A) He never has and probably never will. TBH, I struggle to remember any tie he has ever actually given name credit to anyone who has made fan art of his works before.
B) I may be mistaken here, but his Patreon page should be an advertisement of his work. Granted, if you've been on the internet long enough you know what Chris' art looks like and you should know that the banner art isn't his, but that doesn't make it any less skeevy and, well, false.

Again, this is Chris, and getting too worked up about it is hardly worth the time and effort, but it's still complete bullshit.

 

Spoiler: legal stuff

People may erroneously conflate copyright infringement (which can be erroneously conflated with theft) with plagiarism. Giving credit doesn't always waive any liability for copyright infringement.

 

In other words, chris is hiding in his fortress of delusion again.

 

You bring up a good point with point B. Patreon *should* showcase his own work, not the work of others.

I figured at first that this would only be if Chris was trying to pass off another person's work as his own.

Then again, if you wanna get technical, Patreon *is* a place where you're trying to "sell wares".

 

He doesn't necessary put the credit right on the banner when he uploaded that to Patreon (let alone YouTube). I'd rather he did that at least but I'm sure he doesn't' remember this guy's name.

 

Its walls are made of ten feet thick, solid autism. Nearly impossible to breach.

But I didn't expect anything less from chris. He does seem to think the rules only apply to other people while he's the golden child. Of course, by his logic, by having Sonic the hedgehog in his comics would mean his comics belong, rightfully, to Sega and not him. Of course chris would just wave that tattered letter he got to 'prove' he's got copyright when in reality it doesn't mean shit and we can't convince him otherwise.

 

Sonichu is essentially bad (very very bad) fanart. So I’m on Chris’s side for once, it’s no big deal if he’s stealing art based on his ripped off characters.

Of course he wouldn't steal fan art if Rosechu had a pickle in it...

 

Well, would you? Be honest... Well, okay, fine. Maybe you would, I don't judge. But I wouldn't. Not inta that.

 

That's all well and fine until you make money off of it. That's when companies tend to put their foot down.

 

Too bad it's likely nobody who produced said stolen art has the time, money or resources to bring Chris to court.
