FB 5/19 - Sorbet hit by car, recovering

At least the cat is recovering. When I first saw the thread title over on KF, I thought the worst had happened.

 

I'm sorry about what happened to the cat, but I am sure that weekend at the vet is going to be it's best one since he first entered the Chandler household.

Rather depends on how often Sorbet is out. If he's a regular outdoor cat, then that's not a big deal, but if he's only been out a handful of times then it's kind of negligent.

 

True, but I've had a few dogs and cats who stayed outdoors mostly back when I lived on a farm. Usually, they'd just stay in the yard when they were outside, and if I couldn't see them and they didn't respond in any way when I called their names, I'd go out looking for them. I don't know how things work outside of the farm, or even if it's different in the suburbs or a more rural area, but I imagine it's a bit similar, since most of the time animals seem to stick to a specific area when roaming freely, particularly dogs and cats.

 

To be fair, Sorbet ending up dead would be totally typical of Chris and Barb's attitudes towards him.

 

Pray for Sorbet holy shit.

Nothing makes my heart ache more than hearing about a cat suffering.

 

Well, look at it this way. You've just been hit by a car. You're injured and stunned. You manage to craw into a nice dark hidey hole to rest. Then suddenly a tubby manbaby dressed like an adolescent girl waddles up to your den and tries to get you to go home with him.

Shit, they'd need teargas to get me out of there!

 

I think Sorbet is the first thing to genuinely love Chris since Patty.

 

Barb yelling out the window for Chris to get the cat out of hiding. IM WORKIN ON IT!

 

I feel legit bad for Sorbet. Hope it survives. I don't know how Chris is going to afford the bills though. Overnight care at the vet is going to be pricey!

I can't stand how the chandlers treat their animals, but if someone broke in to rescue them, the rescuer would probably be called a ween and have to spent time in jail.

 

Well, trolls have tried to get the Chandlers help by contacting various Hoarding shows, which would have cleaned their house or at least alerted the locals to the problems they face. but honestly the animals aren't as mistreated or neglected as they need to be for the state to step in. is it bad? yeah, but they aren't chained to a pole in the backyard with no dog house.

 

This is why you don't let your cats out. But this is something even the most "educated" pet owners have trouble with, so it's no doubt Chris would let this happen.

that is true regarding their state, but the bar for state intervention should be raised a little to be honest because there is plenty of shit that is appalling and would cause animal control to come in, but doesn't

 

At least OPL loves his cat, now if he left it for dead or not take the delicious animal to the vet, than we'd have a negligence thing going
