Generally this is called "six and out" (air six, get pulled). I've seen several Three and Outs, but yeah a One and Out is bad. It's usually just the pilot, but I know shows that shot ten and they never aired at all.

Care to mention a few? I doubt anyone will care since it'd be senseless to make a second topic about this. Looking up the old shitty things is a fun pastime.

An Angie Harmon show called "Inconceivable" aired three on NBC and was yanked with no warning. I think they eventually streamed all ten episodes though. A game show with Shatner called "Show Me The Money" was pulled from CBS on a Three and out. Another game show called "Wall of Fame" shot ten episodes and never made it to air because the focus groups hated it and suddenly so did NBC. The 2007 Writers Strike ended up killing a lot of shows. "Pushing Up Daisies" was one, others had short seasons that year. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. FOX is pretty famous for it's three and six and outs. Rejected pilots show up every once in a while as well. "game of Thrones" reshot their pilot because they recast two actors because HBO didn't like them. I know one was Catlynn Stark, I can't remember the other. "script season" is now upon us which is when writers start hunting through development lists and writing a spec script based on the themes they're looking for. This will last until late spring with pitches and rewrites and hopefully a nod to green light a pilot. If you're really, really lucky you go straight to series. I'll see if I can round up some more.

Cheyenne Cinnamon is kind of an interesting case. It was created by Dave Willis, who also made Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Squidbillies.

The thing is, Adult Swim will usually pick up the shows pitched by their alumni, or shows that would be cheap to produce.

Adult Swim also has a history of filling their shows with references to other shows, particularly the Williams Street cartoons, which is why Space Ghost makes a number of cameo appearances, and why one episode of Sealab 2021 ended with the reveal that the entire episode was a cutscene in a fighting game being played by Meatwad and Shake.

I bring this up because it seems like Dave really thought that Cheyenne would be picked up and last for at least a season, so his shows at the time would routinely feature references to the show.

It's pretty bad. It's one of the ugliest cartoons I've ever seen in my life, and the plot and premise are incredibly try-hard and even at the time it made fun of outdated pop-culture trends that society had moved past. To put it another way, watching it is like watching the Hannah Banana episode of Family Guy years after Miley Cyrus becomes irrelevant in mainstream pop culture.

I've always hated this show, and I personally believe that it is the perfect example of Adult Swim at its worst.

Which was definitely a real shame.

But at least we got that thing with the hammer being a penis or whatever out of the writer's strike.

I was an active member of the Writers Strike. It ended up costing the Industry over 3 billion dollars, they were terrified towards the end, actors Andy directors walked toe to toe with us. It was amazing.

Here in Canada the teachers seem to go on strike every year, and they absolutely hate it. Basically, they can go on strike and they have a high chance of getting demands met, so the union calls strikes a lot. What this usually amounts to is a bunch of teachers not getting paid to do their jobs for a little bit of time, the kids getting time off school, and a bunch of angry parents who begin to see teachers as lazy and greedy. All of this for benefits they don't want or need. It got to the point where one time the union called a strike and the teachers all agreed to continue working, basically deciding to go against the planned union strike collectively. It was bizarre, but it really helped the public image of the teachers.

I'm not against unions, but it seems like my upbringing living through the annual teacher strike and hearing some teachers speak bitterly about their own union tried its hardest to turn me against unions. Or at least, that specific union.

Does anyone remember the Survivor spin-off that took place on a pirate ship? I'm pretty sure only one episode ever aired.Or maybe I only watched one episode, it wasn't very good and my memory is fuzzy. I think the goal of winning a challenge was that you got to sleep in the nice room instead of the shitty bunk beds and eventually they give you money of something.

There were two American pilots for Red Dwarf made when RD was doing really well in the early 90s. It really shows how contrasting British and American comedy is.

And more strongly how different the comedy between people who love a project and a cynical executive cash-grab are.

The only times I can think of where Americans take some foreign TV program and basically make it again and it working out are Power Rangers and a few dubs (like Samurai Pizza Cats, where they simply didn't have a meaningful translation to work from so the staff had to write their own scripts to match the footage - and lucky for everyone the dubbing/localization staff working on Samurai Pizza Cats was pretty bright and clearly passionate about their work).

Only about the show itself, and I heard about it on the Internet. I haven't had cable TV in almost a decade.

Okay, so there was the gawd-awful tv show in the '70s called "Quarks." I only ever saw the pilot episode because after that I threw my tv into a cement mixer, but I think it was cancelled after a few episodes. Here's the pilot...

Well, Adult Swim does have full episodes on their site last time I checked, not complete series (as far as I know) but I guess you could always use KissCartoon.

I mean, right now Adult Swim actually has a few shows with incredibly loyal cult followings. The main thing is that pretty much all of the shows with the followings have either been cancelled (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse, Superjail) or are currently in production on a new season (Squidbillies, Mr Pickles, Rick And Morty) so there's not really anything new on the network right now.

Got one on tape many, many years ago from a broadcast on an NBC station out of Denver when it premiered. The pilot was preceded by this McDonald's ad....
