Probably a home since last time he was in a mental hospital he was classified as an inmate.

I imagine he's going to have to keep up employment so they'll let him out. Otherwise it's basically like still being in jail.

So is my understanding of this saga's arc correct: CWC's defense counsel assigned to him by the state essentially has run out the punishment clock on his alleged crime soul healing his mom's Barbussy? So while he has not had his alleged crime adjudicated yet, either way, neither admitting guilt in a plea or being found actually guilty at a trial, he has gone past the maximum punishment available to a magistrate in ordered jail time so his time served credit is now banked against anything the court can sentence him for in the case? The current state of his housing is he still can't return legally to 14BC, since his sexual battery issue with the current owner of that locale hasn't been worked through the system completely yet, but he's been transferred to an in patient state affiliated mental facility to continue to evaluate his delusions if he gets off his medications again? I'm not asking for a trash raid to confirm, best guess from available information sources is fine, there won't be a test later, I promise. Thanks.

Best case scenario for Chris has always been being put in some sort of home where he could be watched.

I think Heilberg must have figured out pretty quickly that he can't run this as sympathetic to Chris so his only option was to run out the clock. Now we don't know where he is for sure but I doubt he's in a mental hospital since last time he was VINE classified him as an inmate, which they are now not doing.

He didn't run out the clock. His defense filed for autism disorder deferred disposition, and the court appears to have granted it. It put Chris on a form of probation. If he complies, the charge could be dismissed and expunged. If he fucks up, he goes in for sentencing on the charge.

The court was looking at group home placement, which may have been where Chris was later placed.

his charges getting dismissed and expunged is the best case scenario for him
Chris doesn't have housing, and by law the state needs to provide him with housing for the first 30 days after his release (which is today, it's been 30 days since he was released)

I am not optimistic that Chris will not fuck up somehow unless his minders prevent such things from happening. He has to be pretty supervised though

I don’t think his charges have been dismissed, he’s just no longer in the custody of the state. He still might have to go to hearings.

My assumption for these 30 days is that he was in a halfway house, pumped full of drugs and without internet access.
Now I guess we’re officially in the Homeless Saga.

It sounds like Chris is on probation
IIRC one of the conditions of probation is that he has stable housing, so I hope HHS helped him find housing or he's screwed
I wonder if he's getting his tugboat again

How can we even trust Chris to not spend his tugboat on toys? We can’t, can we?

I guess he could, or the court could order him, to get a payee so his bills are paid before he gets his fun money
The jails and prisons are overcrowded so they need to figure out what to do with Chris
It's cheaper in the long run to give people like Chris HHS services than throw them in jail or the hospital
And yeah, I don't want to sound too cynical but Chris could screw up and all the hard work of the HHS and legal workers could go down the drain

    On top of that:

Chris is getting sued for debt.
Can they take his tugboat to pay for it? Is that allowed?

And yes, I agree, Chris needs financial guardianship. But who is he going to get it from? Null doesn't want anything to do with him anymore (even HE has standards). When even KENNETH is done with your bullshit, you're out of luck.

no, SSA can assign someone as a payee
it's kind of like power of attorney - usually it's someone you know, but the court can appoint someone if they need to

I imagine him trying to ‘curse’ whatever payee says he can’t spend his tugboat on toys.
This is the first time in his life there are no enablers around to tell him what he wants to hear. It’ll be a big shock.

Yeah, Chris could probably get a court ordered conservator. Conservators basically manage your money for you. A conservator will make sure Chris doesn't blow his tugboat on fun money or only give him a fixed budget.

Fun fact: You can actually get married despite having a conservator unlike a guardian, but thing is, the conservator can stop it by not allowing you to pay the marriage license fees or any wedding expenses, but if your heartsweet pays for it, then they can't stop you if you are your own guardian for everything else still. Not that it would matter for Chris since he has always been oblvious to the fact that getting married will mean he loses his tugboat.

I'm a layman when it comes to HHS, legal and mental health issues
There are layers of ways to help people like Chris and I don't know what requires his cooperation and what can be imposed on him
But yeah, things are going to get dark and depressing fast if he's too mentally ill, stubborn and stupid to accept help, even if it gives him prickly Wicklies
