So there are people on the internet who are making videos trying to explain things like how Pepe is tied to the occult, esoteric Kekism, and how Pepe is the incarnation of the Egyptian god Kek. The catch? These people think this is all 100% real. They think Based God Kek got Trump into office by feeding off of meme magic. I find shit like this endlessly amusing. I don't want to talk about the people who believe this specifically but rather the absurdity of the beliefs. Here are the videos in question:

This is dumb, synchronicity and occultism are not about assigning meaning to things that are just not there, that's called mental illness. There are lunatics in both the conservative and liberal parties, and it seems that there is an increase in incidences of lunacy when compared to other generations.

 

The way I see it is that these people are attributing to magic what should be attributed to psychology. If you replaced the words "magic" with the correct psychological terms then they'd make sense, which probably lends to why people grasp onto their arguments. These people are so, so close to being self aware but they fall just short and it's painful and hilarious to see something a psych 101 class would fix.

 

I actually thought this is all ironic at first when I glanced through.

Looks like insanity knows no bounds.

 

To my knowledge it started ironically like all things that come from 4chan, but it looks like some people decided to take it seriously. It really interesting to see the contrast between people who use it ironically and people who believe meme magic is real. It's hard to tell sometimes but I guess that's Poe's Law for you.

I'm so thrilled about this event happening like such. It was a small inside joke that's grown to world wide fame, hate and now fear. The amount of effort people have put in to try to learn more and paint lines between very minor deities to the POTUS is just a riot to watch.

A friend of mine, is an amateur demonologist. He just loves the stuff and reading about it, he's sane otherwise. So clearly I had to ask him, he said some of the people have a pretty solid grasp on the history and it's more so people just linking a few names on a whim.

The fact in roughly 6 months, a shitty cartoon, that wasn't even well known on all boards of 4chan is now an international symbol of hate and viewed as a god is nothing short of hystrical.

 

In Warhammer 40K fluff, if there's enough belief in a made-up being, that being becomes a living denizen of The Warp. So if that were true, Kek could become a real entity.

and people started joking about meme gods and such, but I never thought anyone would actually start believing in it. You've got your shitty frog meme back /r9k/, are you happy with what you've created?

Also, Trump did kind of get memed into office, but that was because of a clever campaign revolving around "negative" publicity, no meme gods involved.

 

The best part is these are usually the same people that post memes themselves, though of the middle aged suburban mom type. The lack of awareness and incompetence is truly wondrous.

 

Well to be fair, Bernie Sanders sold out and Hillary Clinton got triggered by said shitty frog meme, so people who clearly didn't want some woman who got her panties in a twist over some cartoon in the White House decided to vote for Trump or go with lackluster third party Gary Johnson or Lisa whatsherface.

And also all that shit about Hillary people found that I won't bother getting into in depth so I don't make this any more political.
