    Well, Sony thought that their crap Ghostbusters movie could be spun off into a Ghostbusters universe. I recall that they had Slimer and Female Slimer go down some wormhole with the intention of having them star in their own series.

    As if this hasn't been already tried.

    Twice.

    And it sucked both times.

    They'll remake old Best Picture winners first.

    An update of The Lost Weekend, The Greatest Show on Earth, My Fair Lady, anything like that, if you see these coming back to a given theater near you as remakes sometime in the future, you know the whole thing is sinking under soon.
