Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter have been fun watches for me. Then again, I had very low expectations for them!

Surprised nobody has talked about Pixels- which essentially steals the plot from a Futurama episode, and uses a bunch of old classic video games such as Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Centipede, etc (not to mention the one female protag/ love interest the creepy guy gets is a video game girl (Who is not a giant pixelated monster but looks like a real human) that Q*Bert (yes, THAT Q*Bert) turns into, and then the creepy guy and Q*Bert get married and have Q*Bert offspring). They didn't even take a existing video game female to turn into the 'love interest'- they just made up one- no Princess Peach, Princess Daphne, Zelda, etc.

We don't like to talk about Pixels.

I saw the clipless review of this movie by the Nostalgia Critic... though it is the NC, you could tell this movie was kinda crap.

Pixels is a movie that no one expected to be good, and which entirely met those expectations. Even the tie-in game was crap.

And I just learned that there exists a tie-in game of Pixels.

How can you make good a game based on a movie based on old games that no expects to be good?
(then again, was there a good Adam Sandler game? How was GameBoy Color's "Little Nicky"?)

I didn't know about the tie-in game either until Jim Sterling ranked it as one of the worst games of the year.

I'm pretty sure that there have been a couple awesome tie-in games based on terrible movies, at least in the 90s when it was easier to make a cool platformer/shooter and just ignore the source material.

Even in the 90s, I remember magazines talking about terrible tie-in games based on good movies... but good games based on bad movies?
Are there good examples? Most of the lists I find by Googling are very subjective about those "bad" movies.

Well, there was that tie-in game based on Suburban Commando (the Hulk Hogan movie). There was also the innovative Alien: Ressurection. Beyond that, I'm drawing a blank, but I'm sure that they exist.

And I also heard that The Mummy 2017 had a video game considered better and more creative than the actual movie, done in retro-pixel style.

The only truly good video game movies I can think of were the Street Fighter II anime film and maybe the first Mortal Kombat film from 1995.

Now, some of them such as the Jean-Claude Van Damme Street Fighter film do fit the bill of "So Bad It's Good!"

And while most of Uwe Boll's films are unwatchable, the first House of the Dead film was also a lesser case of "So Bad It's Good", especially during the scenes where they spliced in footage from the 90's arcade games (complete with late 90's pixel graphics) in with the live-action footage.

Of course there's The Room: The Game, which is based on a bad movie. There was a 90s point and click adventure game based on Plan 9 From Outer Space but idk if it's any good.

Oh, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine's licensed game was apparently quite nice.

If we are going to talk about bad games based on good movies, then lets talk about the train wrck that started it all.

Of course I am bringing up E.T. from Atari.

I did play this as a kid. It was the frist time I thought to myself, "this is crap". Now with the ammount of crap software being pushed out the door by developers I am reminded of the phrase, "thoes who do not learn from history are damned to repeatet it."

And now I remember The Angry Video Game Nerd movie... with "Ee-Tee"...
Can we consider this movie an adaptation of this infamous crappy game? In some ways, it is an adaptation.

This has been on my "terrible movies I want to watch" list for a while.

Has anyone mentioned the Doom movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? I've been meaning to watch this as well.

I watched it a few months ago, It was pretty fun. I was pretty drunk at the time so I don't remember everything but I believe the film was something like Aliens with a little Predator (not the new one where they literally weaponize autism) mixed in. I think the only problem I had with the film was that they spent too much time in the "we don't know whats going on yet" stage but then again I was drunk.
