Seeing the slow crawl this guy's doing through the sagas, it wouldn't surprise me if he took two videos.

Once again, someone spends months dedicating them selves to research Chris, and a bunch of random internet autists all happen to know more off the back of their head and sink to Chris level tism to debate and critique said film.

Either way, good times. I enjoy seeing how different spins of the Chris tale is told.

Well, yeah, that's basically how fandom works in many cases. The same thing happened with the Indie Game movie with Phil Fish where a bunch of people on a different website where Phil had been posting his games were upset that a lot of things about Phil that to them were common knowledge amongst their community were omitted from the documentary. Also, with the Neil Young documentary a number of people were a bit upset that only his music from the 60s-70s was represented, while the 80s stuff when he was kind of going through an identity crisis, and that Pono thing he spent so many years working on were ignored.

The point of a documentary should be to inform people of something they are unaware of, because chances are you will be unable to present all of the facts that are common knowledge amongst people aware of the subject within an hour-long documentary and still be able to have people's thoughts on the subject matter included as well. A Chris documentary aimed at the community is a particularly bad idea mainly because most people in the community have visited the Cwcki, and some of the bigger pages (which pretty much all of us have read at one point) could fill an entire 'real' documentary on their own if research was actually done, people involved were located and interviewed, and there was a bit of the documentary dedicated to something tangentially unrelated, like how trolling impacts not only Chris but other people as well.

Which kind of brings me to why I think people tend to criticize these types of documentaries that are posted to Youtube. There are made using videos freely available to all on Youtube, using research freely available to all of the Cwcki, so what's the point of them? They don't offer any new insights, and are usually just a collection of clips we've already seen with a voice speaking over them. I mean, the most famous one was made by a teenager for a class project who wouldn't have the budget or time for anything more.

Like I've said before, a Chris documentary that actually interviews the people involved with Christory would be something truly special. Chris is boring at this point, and like Batman or Superman, it's often the villains who are the reason we care about Chris and his tragic story than Chris himself. But, a documentary like that will never happen. Bluespike won't be a part of it, the trolls playing the part of Clyde won't be a part of it, and the Asperchu guys (with the possible exception of Alec) wouldn't be a part of it. Who would want their face in front of a camera to tell the world what they did while in the Chris community? They would be shamed because of it, not only for their actions in tormenting him, but also for being a part of a creepy internet community like this to begin with. It would be like someone talking about how they used to write creepy Sailor Moon fan fiction about Sailor Moon's daughter and her future husband hooking up years after the fan fiction had been written and published.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as hostile towards it, just pointing the cycle out.

Chris watching is fun and we all have different levels of following and how much we know. I honestly do enjoy seeing how we as a group view things and who follows what if any aspects (dare say side plots) of Chris.

It's also interesting to see the style or slant people take in regards to Chris, I think many try to be unbiased and we choose to feel how we do, but some clearly have a narrative.

If anything, I have a lot of hobbies, and it's something pretty magical how fandom be it trains, cartoons, video games really can shape and effect our lives. Someone put a lot of work in their free time into this, look at sites like this to follow chris, there are couples who got married from KF. The amazing amount of art people do in jest or serious works in regards to Sonichu etc.

Oddly enough I think Chris followers seem to be some of the better ones about pulling the plug and not overwhelming life with the hobby, but the ones who don't oh man they are warp speed tism.

I’d go out on a limb and say that Chris has somewhat improved as a person compared to before, especially in regards to dealing with other people on the net.
But who knows how long that’ll last if Barb ends up kicking the bucket?
If a new documentary was made this information should be pointed out.

Good point but that’s not what I meant.
Sure he’s still gullible like before, but look at how he interacts with people like Michael Hirtes AKA Aspergercorn on Twitter. He doesn’t even pay attention to his constant harassment and has acknowledged awareness of it.

That's true, I think that might have more to do with the amount of trolls contacting him in private though. I think what's happening is that because he gets tagged in so many posts, and so many trolls try to 'bait' him publicly he literally can't pay attention to all of those trolls and talk to the ones who talk to him out of public view. You only have to go on KF to see the screen caps from text messages a number of trolls receive from Chris once they get the nerve to text him.

(Side note: I sent Chris a text once, he freaked out because I didn't call him Christine in the text, basically saying "I AM A WOMAN, AND YOU WILL ADDRESS ME AS SUCH!)

I mean, you have to keep in mind that he is still gullible enough to fall for a lot in private, it's just that trolls generally don't attempt things like IG did very often, if at all. There's also the fact that he's very quick to fall to the bait set by trolls when they go to some girl on Twitter and say something like "You're such an idiot! You're even worse than Chris-Chan!"

I mean, credit where credit is due, he is getting better. But, baby steps at his age aren't exactly encouraging. All things considered, he's in a position a lot of people would like to be in, and he got there entirely by accident, which is slightly depressing to many people. I'd love to be able to sell my old junk for hundreds of dollars to trolls online.

Improved is a bit of a stretch. More like, finally growing up. chris has moved from childish/preteen to about 14 years old, give or take a few years.
His mental state is circling the drain, his physical health is getting worse and coping with being alone when borb dies is going to be sad.
At this point the only documentary that would be worth while would be one about autisum in general and having a segment with chris titled, "What happens when you neglect caring for an autistic child."

Actually, on the subject of documentaries, check out this one about Beefheart. Interestingly, a big part of what made him who he was is the way his parents raised him. Beefheart isn't really a reliable source, but it's kind of interesting hearing people talk about how they saw his parents raise him. The guy had a lot of natural artistic talent (he became a professional painter and made a decent living after he gave up music) and he was offered a full scholarship to an arts school when he was very young. However, his parents realized how special and talented he was (I mean that he was legitimately special and talented, not in a condescending way) that they essentially spoiled him rotten. The guy ended up being incredibly weird, as well as very cruel and violent towards his friends and especially the musicians in his band.

I mean, at one point (I think it's John French who said this) Beefheart threw one of his band members down a flight of stairs and literally tortured him in order to get his complete dedication to the project they were working on (Trout Mask Replica). He also literally starved his band members in some cases.

I both agree and disagree. Long autistic ramble to follow, only marginally related.

When I first discovered Chris, I was working at freaking Wal-Mart (and I don't say this to piss on Wally World or anyone who works there, I'm just pointing out I wasn't making a lot of money and I was working a miserable and menial job). Yeah.

I was in graduate school full time, working at Wal-Mart full time, barely paying my way and just living an absolutely miserable life. It didn't help that I was depressed due to unrelated matters but I digress. The point is at that time, I actually did loathe the fact that Chris lived a not-incomparable lifestyle (with the major difference I was quite a bit, shall we say, safer and healthier, as I am not filthy like the Chandlers) and had far, far more leisure time than I did. Chris and I are pretty close in age by sheer coincidence.

The point being, a lot of my early interest in Chris was, I now realize, due to sheer outrage at the circumstances where I lived a miserable life and worked hard, and he lived an easy life and didn't work at all. I was less mature and more vindictive back then and thought it was great people trolled Chris. I'll admit it, Chris seemed to have "beat the system" and it was maddening and it made me feel vindicated to see him trolled. I feel bad about it now, that's a horrible attitude, but I was pretty fucked up in the head at the time.

But time rolls on. Slowly, I started to get a lot of my shit together. I graduated (debt free!), got one of them Real Adult Jobs what with the actual health insurance and whatnot, and it took a while, but gradually, the fact I invested a lot in myself at such a cost began to pay off.

At that point I began to look at Chris more objectively and here's what I saw and still see:

    • Chris lives perilously in unstable squalor. Now, he is incredibly lucky, I give him that. He should be in jail. He should be homeless. But the fact is, all of these problems and setbacks don't just go away even if they resolve well for him. He has no guarantee of basic dignity or survival.
    • Chris is delusional about who he is and what he does and what he has accomplished and his every action is a defense of his own ego, leading him into a destructive spiral. His inner life and inner monologues with himself must be Hell, pure Satan with a pitchfork Hell.
    • Chris has no plausible path to redemption, prosperity or improvement. Now I'm not one of those people who thinks Chris deserves a horrible fate at all, but I'm not optimistic for him in the slightest. I don't think he'll die but he's going to be a wretch his whole life.
    • This has all been true for a long time, but it keeps decaying in some kind of bizarre degradation half-life. It's amazing to watch, but seriously this is getting to the point it's already unbelievable. I know I said I don't feel sorry for him but I find myself pitying Chris more and more these days. I can only imagine how horrible it's going to be in say five years.

As much as I bitch about my job and all my problems and as bad as I feel I'm not cooler than I am, at the end of the day I can at least look myself in the mirror and say "God dammit I tried to make something of myself today". I can't imagine not having that. What an empty, nihilistic existentialist quandary Chris must live in. I doubt he has the wherewithal to cache it in such terms, but you know he feels it in his gut.

Yes I agree with you there are things about him a lot of people would envy and he has lucked into that completely by accident... but they're just not worth it by any stretch of the imagination. I know this word gets overused but he is truly pathetic, not in the pejorative sense of the word, but in the most technical, dry academic sense of the word. I don't think anyone who isn't a complete failure in life would envy him if they spent five minutes digging deeper into how he got here.

I remember at one point on KF I started noticing a trend amongst people on the site. A number of people on the site have a habit of creating artwork related to the lolcows they follow and posting it on the threads, which is why we get things like this:

    Unknown.jpeg

Anyways, I'm going somewhere with this (although you can probably see where I'm heading right now). I've noticed that people tend to get so much angrier when they see someone achieve success in the world of art when they are struggling to get recognition. You tend to hear people (like, say, Hirtes) talk about how Chris doesn't deserve the success he has received for his artwork when they are making technically superior artwork and get no recognition, then comes the fan art or the fan comic with superior art work that never receives quite the same amount of attention as Sonichu. It isn't exclusive to Chris, you'll see it for Tesch and a number of other cows on KF.

When I said that a lot of people envy Chris, I wasn't referring to his financial success, but more so the fact that his name is worth something because people care about him, and his artwork is known throughout the world (I'm always surprised at how many people I've talked to who've read a bit of Sonichu and know who he is). There are many people on this site who earn more money than him, who have family and friends and who live good lives. However, what many people desire is to leave some kind of legacy in the world and be remembered outside of their group of friends. Like it or not, Chris-Chan will be remembered long after he's dead due to the legacy he's left with Sonichu alone, what will history remember Joe from the collections office for?

On a side note, there's a story in a Dahmer documentary I watched where a cop who was called onto the crime scene was stopped by another cop before he entered the apartment. The cop explained to him that this crime scene was the crime scene that every cop wishes they could be involved with, because this horrible crime scene would get media attention and for the next few months during the media frenzy the cops would be interviewed nonstop by the media, as well as appear in books and documentaries that would be made about the killer. He basically said "If you walk through that door, your life will change forever and you'll be living the dream that every cop has."

Going deeper, it's often been said that to make great art that leaves a lasting impact on people requires a certain amount of stupidity and a bit of a willingness to let your ego shine through. Chris has that in spades, and I think that secretly a ton of artists wish that they had that type of mentality when they create art. Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols fame was once asked why his band, and more specifically him with his off-key yelps, was so successful. His response was as follows:

"Well, a lot of bands write music that is technically impressive but doesn't connect with people on an emotional level, my music does. If you're writing music that doesn't connect with people on any level, then fuck off because you're in the wrong business and doing it for the wrong reasons." (Paraphrased, the ending was censored and mixed in with crowd noise).

As one old saying goes "You may laugh at the man who tried to leap off of the Empire State Building with a parachute he created made out of bread. But what is history going to remember you for?" Whether you want to admit it or not, Chris is someone that a lot of people envy and a lot of people want to be, which is at least partially why such a community has sprung up around him and why people hate him with such a passion.

Wasn't there a humorously censored version of that picture that could have been used instead?

Well, Carlos Wesley Chantor did live a very interesting life. He was the greatest explorer of his time, he climbed the highest peaks and swam the largest bodies of water. However, every time he accomplished something he found that someone had beaten him to it. Then one day he realized that if he couldn't be the first white man to climb the highest mountains, he could be the first white man to have sex with children on those mountains.

Gwar wrote a song about this great man.
