That Guy With The Glasses/Channel Awesome Thread

I used to watch the critic and linkara way back when. After the random forced memes and screams I quit the critic. I watched link thinking, hey I like comics. However his need to marty sue himself in a ripoff Sci fi story and wiki the comics turned me off.

 

Remember when Some Jerk With The Camera/Tony Goldmark went on a WRYYY rant when someone remarked that his fingernails were dirty?

 

Doug did his Garfield 2 review and everybody is flipping out because he made like 3 Trump jokes in the review.

 

I only remember one.

 

I always had a soft spot for Iron Liz, and I'm glad she's done well by herself after leaving CA and especially Linkara. Knowing he had a huge fetish for dickgirls and also tried to discourage her from getting the bottom surgery pretty much cemented me never watching AT4W (or History of Power Rangers as mindless background noise) ever again. What a creep.

 

She originally did a review series of tabletop RPGs, Pen N' Paper Corner, but after the fall of blip, she didn't bother reuploading them because she thought it kinda sucked.

Geez, everything surrounding that movie was a mess. It's still amazing how the media spun James trying to tell his fans that he had no interest in seeing a reboot of one of his favourite movies into some kind of anti-women statement. Even Brad Jones was taking potshots at him for no reason. It's good to know he didn't apologize for the video or remove it, because that's the proper way to deal with these assholes.

 

That would be the case for some of us. With all the random memes and forced story (not to mention, reviews being more or less the same), one would walk away from watching the Nostalgia Critic. Same can be said for Linkara, especially since he did put in the sci fi story into his reviews.

The only good thing to come out of that was a few months later Devin Faraci, who called James a 'limp dicked loser' for his stance, was forced to relinquish control of his own website (Birth, Death, Movies) after someone called him out for sexual assault months later.

 

I'm surprised this is still a thing. Doug Walker has some talent, but his floundering attempt at a network is a big ol' SJW tire fire.

 

Dan Olson makes some decent videos about editing and filmmaking, when his sjw boner doesn't pop up. I liked the one about suicide squad, since he actually talked about the technical mistakes in the film rather than just laughing it how edgy it is like everyone else. He hasn't put out any of those weird box-head videos for a while, which is good because they're rubbish.

 

Brandon Tenold, Linkara, and CR are my favorite Channel Awesome alumni. Phelous is my favorite former Channel Awesome contributor. I like Nostalgia Critic, Sage, and Nash quite a bit too.

My impression was that he wanted to shift to doing the reenactment thing to try to avoid the copyright strikes and takedowns that keep sweeping through youtube. As far as CA people go, I sometimes watch the Critic but I was never a really a fan, Todd gets a laugh out of me every once in awhile, and I like Lindsey Ellis' video essays (sue me) and some of Spoony's older game and film reviews (he seems really miserable in the newer ones tbh) and his counter monkey stuff, but the only reviewer I really liked on the site though was Brad Jones.

 

All I really know about Channel Awesome is that Linkara is a fucking crybaby. That was some Chris-Chan level whining where he bitched at everyone for being impatient about when he releases History of the Power Rangers and how hard of work it is. Shit, give me a six-pack and a day off from work and I could make a review of a season of Power Rangers.

 

But your review wouldn't be a Linkara review. And yes, he definitely works harder on it than you would work on it from the sounds of things.

People who don't actually put any work into their creative content are always underestimating how much work it takes to do it.

 

I do know that if I didn't have a job and I made my money buy making videos like this, I could make it without the bullshit whining and yelling.
