Sell off your fathers prize stamp collection, funny way of showing you miss him.

  2. I think it's a mixture of both. "Well, he's dead so he doesn't need them anymore, plus this way I don't have to sell any of my stuff."

I agree with Blazer on this one. I'm sure Barb put him up to this.

I'd rather see Chris sell things then just beg for money, but even so, I hope no-one gives Chris money, it never leads to anything good.

Yeah, stamp collecting is a nice hobby. It also seemed Bob liked to play musical instruments and garden - too bad Chris couldn't pick up on some of these sensible hobbies.

I wonder if any TRUE and HONEST philatelists will see these and order, not knowing Chris's reputation.

And so begins another chapter in the Financhu Crisis Saga.

At least Chris sometimes offers stuff in exchange for giving money. A certain "CWC orbiter" just straight up demands money like a mugger.

    Ah, stamp collecting.

The stereotypical most exciting hobby possible for all deceased KKK members to have engaged in during their time with sheets over their faces while lighting crosses on fire when they were alive and defending the purity of their race by any means necessary.

Can Mr. C's clothes collection and pistol be far behind on the auction block at this rate?

Way to show your friends that you love them; mementos from Chris's hoard-house. :fatman:

Stamp and coin collecting got really popular in Bob's childhood because people didn't have a lot of money so they started to collect pennies to see if they could get a full set of years and mint marks and they saved any interesting stamps they got. Remember that everything we use the internet for now the only option you had in the 30s was the mail, so there were a lot of letters to send.

I collect stamps and coins and his prices aren't that bad but no way do I suggest buying from him. Most stamps aren't worth that much unless they're errors, freaks or omissions or were counterfeit stamps used by the French Resistance during WW2, or are otherwise historically significant.

Must be a sale on Legos somewhere.

Also, "sits botses" is my new favorite cwcism.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - I looked at some other FDCs on eBay that sold for $2 and the shipping was more than the item.
The shipping on the $2 FDC means he's either giving it away almost for free or paying a small amount to get rid of it. And as Pibot noted, after shipping on some of the other items his profit is half of the price he's charging. Really the $30 item is the only thing worth selling with free shipping.

One of the many reasons I think Barb is the worst person in all of this.

What a selfish snorlax! Selling a stamp collection ( which doesn't take a lot of space ) that her late husband owned over all the garbage furniture and shit in their house.

Plus there are the eBay charges too, Chris got dinged by eBay pretty badly when he was selling his medallions and amiibo.

I mean, yeah its not nice to sell Bobs stamp collection, but really, are Barb and Chris getting any use or enjoyment from it? Let them sell the collection and hopefully it will find its way into the hands of someone who can appreciate it.

To be honest I don't really blame him for selling the collection.

People who aren't stamp geeks may not realize this, but this spring there are a lot of stamp shows (in fact I'm going to one this weekend). The best thing he could do would be to go to a stamp dealer, I think some dealers at stamp shows will buy collections, and sell the collection to them. It would be respectful to Bob because Chris would not be making a spectacle of himself again, someone who knows something about stamps would own the stamps and could resell them, and Chris would get a fair price for the stamps.

Reasonable people do this all the time when they have a deceased loved one who left behind a stamp collection. Unfortunately Chris isn't a very reasonable person.

    Something just occurred to me.

Bob would have been a young adult when the UN came into being, which means if he kept his collecting up over the years, he'd have a fairly complete topical collection.

Fairly complete or complete collections are worth a FORTUNE, and Chris is selling it off piecemeal instead of as a collection. He's selling for peanuts or virtually giving away what might be a valuable collection.

Moral of the story - if a deceased loved one has a collection, get it appraised before you sell it to see if it's worth anything. This is again proof of what a dolt Chris is.
