I read Mary Cagle's Let's Speak English series, it's about her time as an English teacher in Japan.

I should read her other stuff some time.

Yes, but that was only the beginning. The artist hasn't returned to that arc for... over a year.

I think one of the greatest characters in that comic was The Illusionist.'

I don't follow a lot of webcomics, I'm pretty bad at keeping track of them if they don't update enough or have content that continues to interest me. Thus far, I only follow three--used to be four, but Brawl in the Family ended.

Awkward Zombie is the big one I follow. I wasn't a follower from day one, but I had kept up with Katie's DeviantArt account until she made the website to host her comics on I think just before she went to college, and stopped updating on DA. Some of the very old comics are still up there, she didn't transfer all of them to the website. I originally followed her because of her Smash Brothers arcs and how she characterized Roy, but even when she branches off to other video game franchises (especially those I'm not familiar with at all--I'm honestly only a casual gamer at best), I still at least smile.

I don't remember how I found Nerd Rage, but I've been enjoying it a lot even when it doesn't delve into video games (it basically pokes fun of nerd culture in general). Think the best ongoing gag is Samus' slow descent into an emotional fatty with cats due to Nintendo's negligence with the Metroid franchise.

And of course, I still follow VG Cats, if only for that inkling of hope that Super Effective will get updated. But when the main comic does update (like just recently), it can be hit or miss, but still very enjoyable.

Speaking of webcomics... what is your opinion on those simplistic "relatable" comics where the punchline is "I am an immature, unbalanced and irresponsible human being! That's it! LOL! Don't you relate to this?"

The most famous examples being Owl Turd Comix and Sarah's Scribbles.
Who tend to get some backlash as of late. (the latter getting Ben-Garrisoned)

Frankly, I'm not surprised. Those comics tend to be marginally better drawn "rage comics". 'Member "rage comics" when they were the rage in 2011?

Agreed. I've been following that website for a few years. Here are some of my favorites:

One of my first webcomics was Ghastly's Ghastly Comic.
"Tentacle monsters and the women who love them".
Although dealing with a lot of R-rated content, it is quite cute and endearing, and the characters are very likable.

I was quite sad when the author decided to go on a long hiatus back in 2006.
It was also kinda sad when I read what he was going through in real life.

Thank goodness he did a few more pages here and there. (although he tended to get side-tracked a bit too much)
His art got good. Maybe a bit too good. I think it had a charm when it was a bit flat and clumsy, and here it feels a bit cold with an attempt at depth and perspective.

    The Oatmeal can be good.

That's kind of a biased source. Of course they'll say any webcomic they review is bad.

Except Ozy and Millie, but that was just to give context to Raine Dog and the failed political comic Mr. Simpson churned out.

The artist who does Heavenly Nostrils used to do a furry webcomic called Ozy and Millie. Between Ozy and Millie and Heavenly Nostrils, he did two badly failed comics (one was about a blue dog who was a metaphor for his life as a gay man and then transwoman, the other was some generic political comic about how Republicans are dumb and Democrats are always right on everything). Ozy and Millie has a review on the Bad Webcomics Wiki where they praise it partly to give context to the reviews of his other comics, which also had reviews.

Oh. I thought you were talking about The Oatmeal there, which left me confused.
