Because though Sonichu is the only important book out there, you can only reread it so many times.

At the moment I'm reading The Bazaar of Bad Dreams by King and listening to an audiobook version of The Dark Half during my daily commute. I always love King's short story work, and TDH is as good a book as I remember it being.

The Dark Half is probably one of my favourite King novels.
Like you, I'm partial to his short stories, ever since picking up a second hand copy of Nightmares and Dreamscapes and devouring it on a very boring holiday.

I've recently been reading 1984, really just because I've never gotten around to reading it before now. It's been enjoyable so far, but I think I prefer Orwell's non-fiction work.

I'm starting again on Cryptonomicon. It's...dense. Very Stephensonian. Lot of stuff about cryptography and early computation. I like it.

I just looked it up. It sounds interesting!
I imagine I would personally strain to read it, as I'm not particularly computer or technology literate, but I'm sure there's an audience for it.
Have you found any parts hard going so far?

I've started reading Stugatsky's Roadside Picnic. I'm enjoying it so far.

I've been reading snippets of Lovecraft's "Supernatural Horror in Literature" before bed. His ideas are always interesting to read, and he'd have been a unique full-time literary critic. It can get a bit dry at times, though, and its best use nowadays is probably to serve as a reading list for some great stories that are somewhat obscure nowadays.

I bought Homer's Odyssey, but I can barely comprehend the 1600's English the translation is using. I kind of feel like a failure.

Don't feel like a failure. Those 1600's people probably wouldn't be able to understand us either.

You jest, but in all honesty it's easier to find books to read for free at libraries than it is on google.

I'm surprised libraries are still around TBH. I hope they stay around.

I've been reading the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik.
They're a little young adulty but really easy reading, she's got a good style.
Basically they're the Napoleonic wars , plus dragons.

Not him but nah, Stephenson is a fucking master at making dull stuff interesting, seriously, I've learned so much from his books as well as being really fucking entertained.
The guys a legend, he puts so much info in his books and fits it into the tale.
